Yes. I am buying a new PC, Its operation system will be Windows XP Media Center edition. So here is the question; has anyone tried/heard how ArmA or OFP are running on that version? (Media center) Thx

PS. This is my first topic (and post) And i am newbie here!

I would be careful with that PC.While it has a relatively powerful onboard solution, do not expect stellar results without installing a dedicated GFX card.

Edit: oh yeah and some more RAM would also be a good idea

So is it good PC for gaming? Ill buy extra 512 ram, so it will be 1 gig ram in total.

And, could someone give ratings for this machine?

Specs /10

Gaming /10

Overall /10

EDIT: And some extra fans (120mm if possible) will maybe installed for better cooling...

Make it 2 gigs of RAM and it'll be fine on normal settings. wink_o.gif

~S~ CD

Normal? I thought that 3,20 ghz cpu and 1 gig ram will run it on very high? Hows very high-settings fps in dense forest? (or could someone tell me how will my system do in different places/settings in ArmA?) Thx

It is also a Celeron processor where you would be better with a Pentium for gaming. 1 gig of ram these days is considered the minimum for most new games 2 gig would be my choice or higher if you can! I'm not sure either about the ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 as I'm not too familiar with ATI but it sounds like a very medioca card to me! Where are you buying this PC and is it just a general PC store rather than a gaming store?

The PC will be fine, but you need some more memory and a better non-onboard graphic card.

What motherboard is this? Does it have PCI express 16x?

My advise is.... Build the PC yourself it's not more expensive compared to what gear you get. Do you know anyone that have built their own PC themself?

Anyway, get a good graphic card, PCI Express, and a couple 1gb memory sticks instead of those 512mb.

Then you are set smile_o.gif

Since I bought my first PC from PC World here in UK I've never bought another 'stock' comp from anywhere since! I've had four computers built since then from small PC companies that will build your specs to suit. This way you get what you want in the way of hardware according to your requirements and if they are good they will assist you with those requirements.

A general PC store will just try and sell you any package that they want to sell you in order to make a sale and it will probably not only be unsuitable in hardware specs for your gaming needs, but also not very 'upgradeable' either! Some of these general packages have 250/350 power supplies for example, which is just too low for many good gfx cards that you might want to upgrade to and often the pc cases themselves are unsuitable for upgrading because of limited room. Then there is your mother board also probably with limited slots etc. and made really just for the casual pc user!

Moral: Get it built or build it yourself if you are clever enough!  wink_o.gif
