gomer1 0 Posted December 18, 2006 You can use wine to run windows server files at linux, but i dont know wine is stable enough for it...
HitmanFF 6 Posted December 18, 2006 You can use wine to run windows server files at linux, but i dont know wine is stable enough for it... wine was stable enough to run the OFP server (never had any issues with wine for well over a year), but the ArmA win32 dedicated server has SecuROM protection that doesn't want to run under wine. More on the windows dedicated server (and the attempts to run it under linux) in this thread

dm 9 Posted December 19, 2006 whats the point to protect A DEDICATED SERVER SOFTWARE WITH SECUROM=?!?!?!?!?! thats fucking dumb as hell bis.I dont know any game which offers such stupid stuff. Try Trackmania Nations, which was a FREE game, yet still "protected" by starfarce Edit: But yes, I agree. The dedi servers should be free of copy protection. -SoF-Max 0 Posted December 22, 2006 Well the whole server things is messed up from the get go. All you should have to have to run a dedicated game server are addons and maps and a dedicated server file, the whole installing the whole game things is retarted. A dedicated server doesn't need graphic files or sound files unless they are addons. Hope they fix this as I plan on running several at our server company which will have locations around the country/world so remotely in my position I will have to download the whole game on each one of those machines. Something I don't have to do for CSS, CS, COD, or COD2.

TrackMania Nations online download "contain" StarForce YET it ONLY updates older already installed SF drivers ... if You install TMN at computer w/o SF then NO StarForce drivers appear in computer at all ...
