NightVision problem?

Recommended Posts

Well, night missions make me nervous, because when I put NV goggles I see only sky sad_o.gif Terrain is completely black, and for example lightfire is almots unnoticeable from less than 50 meters:/

My specs:

Athlon 2200+XP

2GB RAM

Radeon 9550XT

low details, 1024x768.

Try setting Gama and Brightness on your card to default values. HDR is very sensitive to some extraordinary values.

I HAVE it on default mate.

This is how it looks in Clean Sweep:

18:53 and 35 sec. - darkness is coming.

18:53 and 40 sec. - Big Designer on thy sky is tired and goes to bed, switching the lights off:

Great. Time for almighty specops to put their NVGs on:

Cool.. everything is nicely bright... but wait a second! HDR kicks in:

Oh... darn. Anybody has fresh batteries? Can't see a bloody thing mate! No worries... lets' go home smile_o.gif

And here is sshot, how you can see with NVGs at 1AM:

Even after the readjustment of HDR, you can still see quite well.

I think the problem is, that in the first case is sky still too bright and causes in the NVG render the rest of the scene too dark.

Yes, this really sucks. And sometimes, you have HDR effects as looking into the sun.

BTW, does the moon light the night? This would be some reason, but I saw no moon.

It seems so. It's only not casting shadows smile_o.gif

If you didn't seen the moon, you should look more carefully wink_o.gif

Okay, Placebo told me to post this in this thread instead of starting a new one.

Quote[/b] ]Well, I'm having a bit of a problem here, when using night vision everythings just, well, green. Even though it's pretty much pitch black without the goggles, when I put them on it looks like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/McNools/BUG.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/McNools/night2.jpg

(that's from the night-patrol mission, it's pretty much pitch black without the goggles, and no, it doesn't adjust after a while).

My specs are:

Intel Pentium 2.4Ghz Dualcore.

Radeon X1900 graphics card.

1GB RAM

I've got the latest radeon drivers, turning the post-processing and shading settings up/down doesn't do anything.

Any ideas?

Play with Brightness and Gamma settings.

For me NV is pitch black if Br/Gamma below 1.2-1.3.

For the opposite reason, keep it also below 1.4.

I reduced gamma and brightness to 1.2 and it did the trick, thanks mate!
