Cpt Viper 0 Posted December 1, 2006 Do you have this always ? And does the brightness fade in ? If so, it might be HDR.
maxcohen 0 Posted December 1, 2006 Yes I have always this bug and even with all options on very low or disabled...
Ian Malcolm 0 Posted December 1, 2006 It's often happening in dark houses and APC interiors. Even way worse But it has been already reported few times, so i suppose it doesn't need another thread
Placebo 29 Posted December 1, 2006 Well I don't see any other thread in troubleshooting about it so I see no reason for this to be closed.
maxcohen 0 Posted December 1, 2006 So is it bug? I hope there will be a patch for this because it's unplayable with this light...
CanisDEK 1 Posted December 1, 2006 I have this bug too. Especially the single mission where you have to blow up the vehicles. The sun is setting and if I look straight ahead it looks line night, but if I look down a bit everything turns to bright day. The lightning effects are out of control, but I assume it's something that can be easily patched.
Ian Malcolm 0 Posted December 1, 2006 Well I don't see any other thread in troubleshooting about it so I see no reason for this to be closed. Oh. My bad. It was posted in that "general" bug thread. Shame on me Quote[/b] ]So is it bug?I hope there will be a patch for this because it's unplayable with this light... Well... it is a bug (everybody has the same experience), but i really doubt it's making the game unplayable. Ugly maybe, but unplayable? If i know this bug appears only when you are looking at mainly dark shadowed space over day... that's not very typical ArmA situation...
maxcohen 0 Posted December 1, 2006 Yes it's not unplayable but it's unpleasant to play with this light especially in car, truck or tank.
S.O.S 0 Posted December 2, 2006 Theres also a lightning bug when I go into the back of a brdm for example everything starts to illuminate in a unrealistic way like there would be a very strong white halogen light in the inner of the vehicle. it should be darker in the inner of the vehicles. Codator 0 Posted December 2, 2006 I have the same problem !!! It would be nice if Placebo would tell us how to disable the HDR Effect. Because i cannot dissable it. Even if i set HDR in Arma.cfg to 0. It doesent work. Please HELP !!!

Codator 0 Posted December 3, 2006 Then i think they have to add it i a patch. I dont like HDR so please let me disable it. I hope they will fix all the bugs. I want to play it like the latest OFP Version but with better Graphics. Edit: Sorry for my bad language but normaly i speak german!!!
UNN 0 Posted December 5, 2006 The problems maxcohen pointed out when looking at the floor, also show up when you use the zoom option from the numerical keypad or the iron sights. The way HDR is current implemented does not seam to conform to real life. Lets face it, how we perceive the difference between light and dark, is something just about everyone is familiar with. I have this one as well (if it's not a feature), I figured it was some super bright light in the cargo area of the Stryker. Haven't got in a BMP yet.
stisoas 0 Posted December 5, 2006 it's not a bug . definitly .i can't let you tell that. it's the current HDR settings who are strange yeah. the balance is not here. BUT it's not a bug. it reproduce , the wanted effect. when you are in a dark room , your eye take few sec to adapt itself to the brightness level. when you run outdoor and look sun , you're blinded. and that works. the problem is that , there are small fast flickering when you walk near tree and plant. it's a lack ,but NOT a bug
maxcohen 0 Posted December 8, 2006 Any solution for this problem? I can't play with this light it's crapppy
UNN 0 Posted December 8, 2006 Quote[/b] ]when you are in a dark room , your eye take few sec to adapt itself to the brightness level. when you run outdoor and look sun , you're blinded. Looking at the sun will blind you in any circumstance. But if your stood in bright sunlight, then move into a shaded room. The room should appear dark, until your eyes adjust to it. I've yet to see this effect in Arma. The levels of light appear to be fixed. Perhaps it's my hardware, nobody else appears to mention it? As far as trees go, perhaps it's to much of an overhead, to check the opacity of the object directly inline with the light source? If I had the web space, I could soon fill it with example anims showing the short falls. Thats is, at least, from my point of view. That aside, being blinded when looking directly at the sun is a great idea. Thinks of WWII air combat.
maxcohen 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I have always this problem with the 1.0.2 patch

whisper 0 Posted December 18, 2006 Like stated above, I think the lightning change is intended, badly done, but intended (I get this too, btw, of course) In the first pic shown, you have 2 part lighted differently, the sky which is bright, and the ground with trees casting shadows, which is dark. BI want to simulate your eye adapting to ambiant light, in this case "high level" of light, so it reduces global luminosity, so the ground is very dark (and the sky not too bright) Then you put your head down, and the most brighter source (the sky) disappear from your field of view. You'll see your eye adapting ("iris" opening, I don't know if "iris" is an english word, though, sry for that), and the scene will become slowly brighter. Thing is, it's overly done, and the ground becomes too bright. Like in second pic, where you don't see the bright source (sky) anymore. I'm not sure, can't remember, but the opposite effect should happens, and it doesn't in ArmA. When you put your head up, you shoudl have sun "rays" blocking what you see from the ground for a few millisecond before coming back to what you see in pic 1. So I think it's intended, but exagerated effect. And not really something that make the game unplayable, let's be honest.
S.O.S 0 Posted December 26, 2006 i remember once being in a chopper as gunner - i couldnt use it cuz the lightining was totaly fucked up - i had to use 3rd person to shoot at targets (to see them atr all). even at default gamma and brightness levels.
