Nemesis6 0 Posted November 8, 2006 It's the same whether I'm on english or german forums, though I'd say it's a little worse on the german ones. Yeah, those Germans sure do like to say "Huresohn" or however it's spelled. The Operation Flashpoint game has spawned what can largely be referred to as an elitist community because of the basic principles behind its gameplay - It's a large, large battlefield in which you're just one tiny pawn, and you have little chance to win it if you play it like any other game. It takes patience and it takes teamwork. At this point, a lot of players will discard it because they don't have the time or will to be the tiny step closer to actual combat that Operation Flashpoint is, leaving, as I said, the elitists. A lot of these people, probably including myself, view BF2 as crap. I don't see it as that. It's more of an arcade shooter with a lot of vehicles, etc, where your bullets do not do any actual damage upon impact, and your accuracy is ridiculous. That's the infantry part as least. BF2 is a very easy game, it's very easy to get the hang of and I understand why it can be tempting to waste some hours a week on it. It's simply a different breed of gamers who play games like Operation Flashpoint. But we're gonna see many more mainstream gamers playing Armed Assault because of its reputation, graphics, etc. And despite the usual complaint that OFP had bad graphics and that it "sucked", Operation Flashpoint has earned itself an eternal place in the ranks of the gamers. mrj-fin 0 Posted November 9, 2006 I can´t count those games that I´ve been played thorought, but I never can´t understand those who fanboys some game so much that they need defame other one´s. I like every games even the gaps of wellness of those games are huge. On OFP multiplayer I can found grown up people from coop-op and CTI-servers. Usually when you visit to DM and CTF servers the people arent so friendly or just intresses their own scores.
2006noob 0 Posted November 9, 2006 The thing is - this forum reeks when it comes to people with the odd oppinion. When a guy airs stuff about the gfx (and laughable lizard aphro american dwarfs and whatnot - that's my opinion YES VIEWDISTANCE FIVETRILLIONMILES the models can't be hi-fi but that's not the point - it's all about proportions and art-direction which can be the same no matter the quality-why do I say this) in an atleast calm and serious manner and so on - placebo locks the thread. There are A LOT of people with broken english which probably makes stuff worse. And some just seem vile - like some soldier or machoismo types that call people names "when they are fucking stupid" expressing their oppinion. For example when discussing unarmed action in ofp (which never ever happens - krav maga and general training is just for fun). A lot of that. And people being undynamic and dry, kinda like 10% autistic scientists but on a much lower NRA macho take on it level. <- Generalization and bias is no good. So take it for what it is. Thomas Ryan 0 Posted November 10, 2006 I don't honestly care whether someone likes the BF series games or OFP and ArmA. People have a right to their opinion, and we have to respect that. The modern age has brought down-right amazing graphics into our games, thus creating games that are, at times, arcadish and un-realistic. But, there are the few that aren't as devoted to graphics as they are devoted to gameplay instead. ArmA has great graphics, and the gameplay is just as good. I say, let the BF series players play BF games and let the OFP players play OFP and ArmA. I must admit, I hate all the flaming that goes on in these forums (it's rapidly increased lately) but as mentioned before, it's human nature to express your opinion as I am now. As for the ArmA websites that are more for BF2 than they are for ArmA, that's exactly the point I'm making. It's not bad/wrong to have an interest or a dislike for a game. What is wrong, is to flame it's community members. Calling them young kids, and so called "n00bs" (God, I hate that word). In the end, let people do what they wan't. It's their decision, let them live with the consequences and good things that come from making it. Exactly the same with life.
