Daniel 0 Posted November 1, 2006 Just wondering if anyone reckons whether it would be possible/feasible to create lakes for custom islands in ArmA? (Bit of a shot in the dark to even ask the question, I know) I'm thinking maybe lakes a good few miles long and a few hundred meters above sea level. I guess it would have to look as good as the ArmA sea aswell. Any thoughts?
Llauma 0 Posted November 1, 2006 I hope so but I doubt it. I assume that it's like in OFP until the dev's tell otherwise.

l etranger 5 Posted November 1, 2006 It was confirmed that arma can use mesh for creating a lake.

coderdfox 0 Posted November 1, 2006 Lakes could add alot, maybe a Dam, or waterfall could be modeled. I could see this being uses as a river (not a fast moving river).
max power 21 Posted November 1, 2006 It doesn't get much faster than a waterfall.

Daniel 0 Posted November 1, 2006 I'm thinking a certain 12 mile long, mile wide lake.... But yeah, If it's possible in any respect that's brilliant - if can reflect the quality of the standard ArmA sea: even better.

blackdog~ 0 Posted November 1, 2006 It was confirmed that arma can use mesh for creating a lake. Well we could already do that in OFP? -.-' OFP had limitations of one true "sea level". Daniel was asking if it would be possible to create lakes at higher elevations.
mickuzy 0 Posted November 1, 2006 hehe dambuster missions. terrorsist taking over a dam. medieval castels with moats. you know, this may open a few doors.
xnodunitx 0 Posted November 1, 2006 In Flashpoint Elite the little water hole thingamabobberdingers that would be infront of churches, the fountains, had water in them..not quite like OFP on PC but these had water sounds, moveing water textures which also had a normal map on them..or shader, whichever is used. Now wether or not stuff can float in it is difficult to say as its too small to fit a boat in,not to mention you need setpos to do it properly which is not in elite. Look what i quoted mate, it is already possible to create a 'water object' and make a river/lake/whatever with it And no, it wouldnt behave like the OFP/ArmA sea (@coderdfox) Â
j w 0 Posted November 2, 2006 I guess you could model and texture a lake, but it wouldn't give the same properties as real water. Though, the problems OFP had with lakes should be solved with ArmA. We'll just wait and see
