ACT SMILEY 0 Posted January 27, 2002 Jub-Jub, right, the VBS engine is based on the OPFP engine but its altered so significantly that some things will change. The vehicle conversions and some extra features and refinements would probably get given to OPFP but not many of the advanced features. Landing on it would probably filter down (maybe bouncy-style though ) but not stuff like ramps.
Raptor-Man 0 Posted January 27, 2002 Is it possible that the aircraft carrier could be made like an island unmoveable but able to walk and land on it like an island? I dont know if that is possible im just wondering. RaptorMan
Frizbee 0 Posted January 28, 2002 We can only hope that in a year or two the engine will be used to create a game that we are given.. (If they are showing screenshots, then it must not be classified) Maybe even for OFP 2 if they are going to make it...
Unl33t 0 Posted January 28, 2002 If there is 1 thing i want most from VBS to be in OFP, Would probably be extra realism.... or better scenery
GSGalaxy 0 Posted January 28, 2002 The VBS system being developed from BIS together and for the US Military for sure won't be released to the public ... i greatly doubt, they will release a specialized Training-Program, with all the goods and details in there, so that each foreign nation can go into a game-store and get a copy of a trainingtechnics- and -tacticsprogram for the US Military ... Won't happen - if they show of some screenshots of what they are doing besides the PC-game ... well, that's for pure commercial purpose - because a few nice-looking screenshots can't harm noone ... like a photo of a stealth-bomber can tell you all the details ... no way ... To bad ... but i stay realistic ... this professional VBS-system won't reach the gameplayer ... well, that's my opinion...

I said we can only hope that the ENGINE is used to create a game for us... the ENGINE does not have all the tactics and goodies in all the vehicles... it just allows the developer to add them at the US military's request. They could keep things relatively simple for us gamers.. but they could still use the engine to make an awesome game.

'Delta Force' was originally a training simulator, but thanks to large commercial interest it found itself on our shop selves. VBS has astronomical commercial interest, I wouldn't be suprise if we see it's public incarnation in OFP2 or even something else. Jubs

The Jub-Jub Bird 1 Posted January 28, 2002 I'm sorry I upset you Jamesia, that was not intend, like MLF put it, I'm saying it as it is. Cheers dude. placebo: No I think it was a simulator first and due to lots of interest the engine was sold to Novalogic with which they made Delta Force...but I could be wrong...its not unheard of for me to be so. Guest Posted January 28, 2002 Well we have some news on the subject matter, its a new project Independence lost
URKET 0 Posted January 28, 2002 It seems to be either A) Operation Flashpoint 2 - Independence Lost B) An Official Mod, or C) A Patch/Upgrade. It looks to be based on East Timor crisis, and the rolls of the US and Australian defense forces in peace enforcement missions. Well that’s what I think. BIS_IS_THE_BEST 1 Posted January 29, 2002 it looks like seventh are involved with it, maybe they scrapped vietnam one and are making this one? anyways, Seventh ROCK!
Sephiroth 0 Posted January 29, 2002 I believe that Independent Lost is a modification being helped, and backed by Bohemia. Now, for landing on ships, you might understand this one. The reason you cannot land on the LST is because it is a SHOW vehicle only, hint the no-fuel. It is not a complete vehicle, the weight is off, as one of the two reasons it bounces. Two, its bounding box is incomplete, which means if you try to land a helicopter on the back bad, half the chopper will go into the boat causing it to jump. In my belief, I believe that the Independance lost boat will actually have the ability to land and walk on it. You can walk on the LST also, for I have done it, but once I walked half way through the helipad, I fell and died...
Speeeedy 0 Posted January 29, 2002 NO NO NO seventh has almost nothing to do with it. expect maybe make music. The reason there name is there is because they made the design (look at planet flashpoint and you will see the same)
