Sub0 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Hello all, I wonder if there's any information about how ArmA reacts when I give my men commands WHILE there is voice output (e.g. from "papa bear") at the same time. OFP favoured voice output over my commands meaning that if "papa bear" explained a whole lot of information to me the commands I gave while "papa bear" talked were put in a command queue and not executed before "papa bear" ended speaking. I really (! hope that this has changed in ArmA as it was a major pain in the a** in OFP and I'm looking forward to your answers. Kind regards SubZero
.kju 3245 Posted October 2, 2006 it seems not. i guess the bug is still there
suma 8 Posted October 3, 2006 I wonder if there's any information about how ArmA reacts when I give my men commands WHILE there is voice output (e.g. from "papa bear") at the same time. While there were serious problems in this area in OFP, they were never as serious as yoor e.g. would suggest. If Papa Bear was saying something (which it did on side channel), you could say anything you wanted to on the group channel meanwhile. Now (since OFP:Elite) you can even interrupt your own transmittions with a more urgent ones, therefore this should no longer be a problem.

TeRp 1 Posted October 3, 2006 Yep, the OFP radiosystem killed me a few times when commanding a tank.... It nearly happens every time that one of your crewmembers never stops to report the enemies and during that time you are not able to give movement commands to the driver or order your gunner to target and engage. I hope this has been fixed too, but I'm quite confident it already is

.kju 3245 Posted October 3, 2006 note that there is also a different issue. Suma only stated that local higher prio commands can/will now be spoken first. it dosent change the far worse OFP bug of human controlled AI waiting for radio sound being played before acting and therefore sometimes act only after 5-10 seconds later

Will there be any method to disable to command queue completly? This is currently a matter of some controversy in the CTI leagues. Some players are setting extremely high voice pitch values to speed up their commands to AI and gain an advantage. Some tournaments have begun disabling all voices through mod folders to level the playing field. This seems to be a realism feature which probably makes sense for the realism coop crowd, for us in the player vs player crowd it's not really something that leads to good gameplay. So a server setting to change this behaviour would be ideal, perhaps something to consider for a patch atleast.
