Trapper 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Both teams start with a small base and their main goal is to destroy the enemy's spawn points. The teams are made of fighters and a few expirienced guys, building the base. The small bases consist of a limited number of defense systems, spawn points, first aid and weapon supplies. With an increasing body count more equipment options become available for the team. Of course the upgrading and combat behaviour of both teams is very different. The game isn't too fast-paced as a human. No bunny jumping and even the weapons feel ok for Quake. As an alien the game is very fast-paced. Most evolvement stages rely on close combat. They run fast, jump far, and some of them are able to move on walls and ceilings or they have special jump skills. The stand alone version is only 95MB and it's free! I'm sure you'll have fun if you like the theme. http://tremulous.net/

Väinämöinen 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Feels a lot like Half Life-Natural Selection http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/comm_manual/basic/index.htm Quote[/b] ]ClassicThis gamemode was the original for NS. It is a hybrid of Real Time Strategy (RTS) and First Person Shooter (FPS). Instead of a central repository of resources (be that gold, or minerals, etc), resources are represented by resource nozzles spread throughout the map. Each team caps the resource nozzles with their own resource towers (alien, marine) in order to start collecting resources from them. Players can also gain resource points by killing an enemy. A random amount from 1 to 3 points are gained. For the aliens, it is awarded to the alien only, and for the marines, it's added to their common resource pool. This is commonly called resources for killing (RFK)

Trapper 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Natural Selection looks more complex for me after reading the manual. But Half-Life 1 hasn't become freeware, has it?
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Just tried and I like it, has a feeling of Aliens meets Starship Troopers, close confinements with intense firefights and big guns getting chopped down by big jaws. Gonna keep it I think, thanks for that
EiZei 0 Posted August 21, 2006 Tried it and I have to say NS feels better, more polished and more slower-paced (a good thing in this case).
HotShot 0 Posted August 21, 2006 I had a go at this and it just seemed to be an unorganised death match. I thought as it had some building in it there would be proper bases to defend and attack from, but it was just some teleports, gun points and medic ports scattered about. There were so many people around I was always shooting team mates and i dont know if i was just lagging or the aliens are very fast, because i would see one up a hall way and then a second later it would be next to me and slicing me up. So i agree with EiZei - slow it down. I'll give it another go becuase maybe with a less full server it may be better, but the one i joined was the only one i could see with any players on it yesterday. Trapper 0 Posted August 21, 2006 ... i would see one up a hall way and then a second later it would be next to me and slicing me up... Sounds like one of the Tyrant's attack modes. Well gameplay is not as slow as in OFP or HL but for it's Q3 origin it's not that fast.
