jj29 0 Posted August 3, 2006 I have some questions.will there be some  trenches or bunkers in AmA?Will soldiers in ama  take trees ,houses, sandbags as cover when they are attacked?

That's just a fence Trenches can be pre-built into the island so you can still have trenches with out digging them in game or something.
Capitan_eXtreme 0 Posted August 3, 2006 Definately a fence
sirex 0 Posted August 3, 2006 its too much to ask for. - but it would be jaw dropping if you could dig foxholes. game3 maybe :-)
GBee 0 Posted August 3, 2006 I think it would be strange if there weren't some sort of fixed defences including bunkers, towers, anti-tankbarriers, minefields, fences etc along and near the border between North and South. When I say bunkers, I mean the concrete type and not the sandbag bunkers we saw in OFP. Elsewhere in the countries I wouldn't honestly expect to see bunkers and trenches, they only make sense where a static defence is likely. Maybe around military bases, but even then ... I'd be more than happy with personnel bunkers (MG/AT nests) though it would also be quite cool to have some drive in tank/apc bunkers - the type which allow tanks/apcs to fire in a small arc forward. Chunder 0 Posted August 3, 2006 Thats what makes rivers and strems so cool, a natural network of trenches
VISTREL 0 Posted August 3, 2006 Foxholes would be a great addition but also would require lots of work for developers. I can only hope it will be introduced in OFP2.
GBee 0 Posted August 3, 2006 Thats what makes rivers and strems so cool, a natural network of trenches Precisely. I don't want to turn this into another river/stream thread but rivers and streams would add so much to the tactical realism of the game. That's in addition to the effect they would have on the realism of the landscape etc
Chunder 0 Posted August 3, 2006 I actually don't mind u doing so. I agree, all these tacticle warsim with their undestroyable bridges, or non existant rivers & streams I mean, you can do so much with streams. Farm lands are usually fenced off too! or at least everywhere where i have been.
Heathen13 0 Posted September 26, 2006 I like the idea of having Trenches already built into the land. Could make way for a very nice World War 1 mod!
DrBobcat 0 Posted September 26, 2006 Given that the "plot" size can be much smaller when creating an island, as well as the issues eliminated with improved collision detection, we should have no issues creating trenches and ditches now. This is excellent news for WW1 and WW2 mods and hopefully will improve the experience accordingly. Here's to hoping! - dRB

Even if you make it extremely detailed the cell size would still be a couple of meters which isn't that detailed if you wanna build trenches. You would also be forced to lower the view distance alot. I guess we need to wait for for game2 before we can start making real trenches.
TrevorOfCrete 0 Posted September 26, 2006 i guess well see what the community can do. some of the stuff done for OFP many would have thought impossible. so who knows what we can do in ArmA.
Balschoiw 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Quote[/b] ]its too much to ask for. - but it would be jaw dropping if you could dig foxholes. When Lobanak and I have been to BIS some years ago we asked for all that. Foxholes you can dig with your shovel in realtime , buildable watchposts in trees and camouflaging equipment in the fields once they are deployed or in position. Basically it´s an engine issue that these things will probably not be in Arma, but they should come with Game 2. This information is of course some years old, so maybe they have changed, but looking at the engine right now, especially the physics compartment, it is unlikely that much has changed.
