BlackScorpion 0 Posted July 1, 2006 Aye, mentioned it earlier... will be watching. They're planning to launch in schedule, which is about 5h 45mins away (3.49pm Eastern US time). Something new or me: the astronauts arrived to the space center flying T-38 Talons.

BlackScorpion 0 Posted July 1, 2006 Aah, damn you Hellfish. Good luck, even if you're not here. T minus 3 hours and counting started just few mins ago, but atm the launch is a no-go due to cumulus clouds.
hellfish6 7 Posted July 1, 2006 Being lazy, I haven't left yet. We have a cool thing in Florida called NASA TV where they always show live shots of everything - right now its a live shot of the astronauts heading to the shuttle. The entire time they're in orbit they will show the crew, live. Its nifty. That said, if you're ever in Florida don't bother going to the Kennedy Space Center unless you're a super space nut. The wait times are far, far, far too long, admission is expensive, everything else is expensive, you spend 90% of your time waiting in line for a bus and the stuff that they have to see isn't super spectacular. Aside from the launchpad itself, which you look at from a mile away, the trip wasn't really worth it for me or the people I went with. We ended up skipping the last part of the bus tour because we didn't want to wait in line any longer. Edit: 60% chance of launch now. Set for 3:48pm too. hellfish6 7 Posted July 1, 2006 So we spent two hours trapped in traffic and never moved more than ten miles. Thank god they scrubbed the launch - I was about to get road rage pretty bad.
BlackScorpion 0 Posted July 2, 2006 Eeeeh? Weather... According to NASA website, there's only a 30% chance of launch atm due to weather conditions, but they'll try anyways.
t80 0 Posted July 2, 2006 i read somwhere that it was a minor failure on the cooling system on one off the engines, but its´s now fixed and the launch will be at 19:26 today.. but i also later read that it was weather.. maybe it was both,,$$ or weather oficially...$$
BlackScorpion 0 Posted July 2, 2006 Well they did actually have some problems with one of the booster pods, they couldn't get it to heat up... but it was just a minor thing, I think the planned to try to fix it on-orbit. But I think they already got it fixed. The planned launch should take place in about 3Ë hours, although weather conditions aren't ideal again. Atleast countdown is on and astronauts are just on their way to the shuttle.
