sanctuary 19 Posted July 10, 2006 I am not interested at all by "commercial modules" adding 3/4 units or some different colors, but i am way more interested by expansions if they add a real extensive content, like Resistance did for OFP.
Chris Death 0 Posted July 10, 2006 Nephilim - it's not about adding new units to the core game. It's about playing the core game from another point of view, using a different interface. The bonus for buying something is not having different units or equipment, but playing a different game with others playing the core game or even more: another different game. ~S~ CD
Spy17 1 Posted July 10, 2006 Yes! Instead of buying an expansion pak as we know it now, (new campaign, new units and some general game engine improvements) you could buy an extra (for example flight-) simulation compatible with the game.
funnyguy1 0 Posted July 10, 2006 It`s been said that there`s no point in buying a "m1a2 module" containing nothing but 10 variants of m1a2 with different paining, because the community will make It anyway. VBS modules work mainly that way, they`re nothing but addon packs. And we do not talk here about addon packs, sure some addons might come with the modules... @nephilm there wouldn`t be a situation where a mission needs a specyfic module, because a mission created in the core game`s editor would be playable either with the module or not. What I mean is: you make a mission where you`re a tank commander. The core game player plays It with the core game tank, the tank module user plays the same mission with the improoved tank simulation. Differences? Of course there will be some differences, but that`s a matter of mission design! I repeat: modules for game 2 would be (imo) a packs containing: a big realism upgrade (almost a whole new game, like tank sim based on the ofp engine, with all those licenses bought from the millitary, whatever), the campaign designed for the module, and because of the different realism level not quite playable with the core game, maybe even a whole new island, you name It... @sanctuary If you think I`m talking about just an "addon pack" you`re wrong, It would be almost a separate game! Expansion pack focused on one particular part of warfare. I`m not talking about addons that might come with patches 2 weeks after the game relase, I`m talking about something more serious, something that would require much more time... edit: Concidering the "game 2 modules" as something simillar to the VBS1 modules is wrong and confusing. I used the word "module" and the comparison with VBS to give you the first look at the idea, and then created a proper definition of the "game 2 module". nephilim 0 Posted July 11, 2006 oh my... lol i c now lol.. all confusing hehe well but then those modules would be simply just another game... im mean like ut>>>sof2>>MoHAA (roughly) hmm.. well its just a q if its taht likely taht the devs will have time for that.. tailoring the engine for diff packs.. anyway.. cheers
funnyguy1 0 Posted July 11, 2006 Not exactly like ut and sof2, but rather like ofp, lomac:black shark and steel beasts...moreover, all based on one engine and compatible! So yes, thinking about It as about a different game is better than comparing It to the modules we know from VBS1. And yes, I`ve never said It`ll take just a while to relase such module...look at Resistance... regards
sniper pilot 36 Posted July 28, 2006 Fuck modules. If they want to add new stuff they should just give it to us for free Yeah seriously man modules would suck I would obviously still buy them....
funnyguy1 0 Posted July 28, 2006 @Ti0n3r: we`re not talking about the amount of changes that could be given to us for free... You can send an e-mail to steelbeasts.com and ask them if they`ll send you back a copy of their sim for free, that`s the same situation...
