Hind (! ), BTR 80, BMD, T80, SU25, VSS vintorez, AKM and AK47's wink_o.gif . The game is crying for some proper russian gear, im so tired of M4's that i usually pick AK's and even do better with them too smile_o.gif .

I have only seen the aimdot and so called SPR, i pray to god that the SPR isnt the supernoob cannon it was in the other military application, no challenge whistle.gif .

I'm looking forward to:

- New animation system. No doubt about it, FP's animation system was a PITA. Looking forward to getting multiple animations on one object.

- Multiple turrets. Assault eggbeaters, rejoice! No more getting a$$-raped from the right flank because you have no suppressive fire on that side.

- Enhanced view distance. The limits we have in FP is mighty annoying at time. Looking forward to seeing much more.

What I'm still curious about:

- Geo Lod limit. RAGGHHHH!!! How I DISGUST this limitation. Slicing and dicing massive objects so they'll fit the geo lod limits will always be a thorn in my side. Hoping in ArmA we'll have more freedom here.

- Getting pitch and bank and setting pitch and bank. Another pain in the butt, for just about everything.

- Pilot/driver weapons to CP/G limits. Will we be able to have gunships where the pilot controls rockets or other weapons of our choosing, and have the gunner control the turret and any other weapons we assign him? I'm guessing this isn't possible.

- Missile/rocket range. GAH! This is another one that makes life hard. In FP, the "lifetime" value for missiles doesn't work as advertised, at all. We have to make missiles go insane speeds just to get to a certain range, and when they get there - POOF! Makes it very difficult to simulate actual rocket functioning - having a short burn time and a long glide time. I'm almost certain ArmA missiles behave the same way as FP missiles, so there's a slim chance of getting it real here.

- FLIR and/or other advanced systems. This probably has nil chance of happening, but it would sure be nice if we did get it. Using FP tank/heli sights feels like you're running an Abrams or a Cobra with WW2 technology.

- Overpenetration on some weapons. For once I'd like to see my Sabot round go clean through a damned tree!

Those are my (admittedly, unrealistic) hopes for ArmA modding.

1.) Tools with good documentation on how to use the tools so that people, like me, who are not interested in making an M4....vehicles, or aircraft for that matter. I think there is enough talent in the community to provide those things for just about everyone. My opinion is this...If you have all the "Wanted Addons" from say an F16 - SU27 - M1 - T80 - T72 whatever...There must be high quality locations, but each location has certain "Static, Foilage, & Buildings" that need to be made. Without those, a 100 different F16's won't make up the difference, nor will 100 different Blackhawks, or 100 different infantry of any nation, and the list will go on and on.

2.) I like the packs like FFUR, CLSA, FDF, Zombie MOD, Stargate, Airwolf, and the list goes on and on, but I would like to see more single addons. They are easier to keep up with, and I do use MOD folders.

3.) More communication between MODs to share the needed scripts, cpp's, configs, or anything else that would make all MODs work together in part or in whole. Like take infantry from JAM and CSLA and put them with FDF and FFUR. I have with some MOD folders, and they work fine, but sometimes it doesn't. (Y2K3)

4.) I like the idea of like the prefab thing too. That would make less work for the addon makers. I posted my opinion on the I44 thread here on that.

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....y953570

5.) More default ground textures for the people making islands/maps. It gets old trying to find the right texture on one of those pay sites....And yes I have, for myself, bought really high quality ones.

6.) Better documentation on how to script. I don't know what a billboard is...[cl] is like? I got to the point where I can move things around in a script to make it do what I want by the authors notes, but to come up with one is totally out of my hands. I'd like to make my own fire and smoke effects to be attached to a unit's init line, or better yet a trigger. That way I don't have use other peoples work, or to bother people like XCess, or countless other scripters with dumb questions like this thread:

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....targets

I'm still trying to make my first crate LOL. Once that is done, and I still have hair....I would be sooo happy to make buildings, static objects, foilage, for anyone who asked....but with no good documentation to go by anyone who has good ideas gets set back...waiting for someone to make something to use. I won't ask anyone to make anything for me, because it's not mine, and I like to do things myself, but lately I've been eager to build buildings, static something, or even foilage items for the community that I'm starting to go a little yay.gif . I've learned how to make islands, but I'm limited to using someone elses addons(Buildings, Static Objects, & Foilage mostly), which usually must use someone elses addons too. That's ok really. I just try to use only the addons that are single.

I'm sorry about the long post, but I love OFP, and I think ArmA is going to be something well worth the wait, even if the US is the last one to get it. Good things come to those who wait.... smile_o.gif

Of course you have to consider that these mods have hugely different ideas of good gameplay, graphical effects and realism, meaning their configs are totally alike.

And yeah, fdf is not an addon pack. It's a lot more than a bunch of new units zipped together. wink_o.gif

Nice list Franze, as a Helicopter "specialist" the new possibilities are really exciting for me too, LOTS of nice stuff we can do with the new animations and abilities. And yeah, being able to see your target at ~8km will finally mean that we can use hellfires properly biggrin_o.gif

With the exception of FLIR and the geo lod limit (which I'm unsure, but it may have been addressed - ref some of the huge buildings on Sarhani which dont look "chopped up") the rest *SHOULD* be patchable, which would be nice wink_o.giftounge2.gif

I know the FDF isn't really a stand alone MOD, but I have come across a few addons that just don't mix well with it. And your right each MOD has a different view on what it should look like. I like them all, and I can to play with CSLA for a while, then switch to FFUR, or any other MOD thats out. I even have a MOD folder setup with addons that can be used with each MOD out there, so I can use all the addons I like with each of the great MODs biggrin_o.gif . Thank you addon and MOD makers for giving me such a wonder new view on a great game!!

i for one would like to see the mod teams keep the same era type mods. i.e. late 1980's and early 1990's. the units, weapons are super fun to me. like nice MP5's and M4's. AK's and PKM's.

i just love playing/creating missions in that era. super fun.

i hope to see RHS create units like we have today in ofp. i hope that many legend mod teams recreate thier masterpieces in ARMA.

do u thinks well see alot of rebirths of our fav mods we have in ofp?

A few types of 'mission mods' that I would like to see

- A village is being experiencing strange things and some villagers are being attacked at night. My team is sent to investigate. We interact/talk with the villagers and a story develops during the course of which we have quite a few firefights with hostile forces. Maybe we go to investigate another village nearby and are attacked etc. Basically I want some story driven mods where there is sufficient interaction with civilians and information is extracted from them. There will be some tension, suspence, mystery and investigation along with quite a few firefights. The story will be open ended and may vary based on my actions.

- A 'defending the village' type mission which is part of some interactive story like I mentioned above. A village maybe attacked but we won't know the timing or the direction and it will be upto my team to defend. We may have to pick up some clues, by interacting with villagers, about when the attack will come. Ther will be a lot of suspence before the attack comes with some much smaller attacks and false alarms. I may even take the option of attacking the attackers' base if I can find out where it is, by talking with the right people.

- An 'escaping with a prisoner' type story where I will have to escape from North Saharani to South Saharani. I may use any vehicle and stop or hide at any place I choose. We may even masquarade as North Saharani soldiers. The North Saharanis will try to hunt down my team. Talking with NPCs, for enhancing the story, will be important.

Just few wild suggestions:

1. Ability for soilders to create small fires, for signaling etc..

2. Ability for soilders to climb some trees.

3. Ability for soilders to dig tunnels.

4. Ability for soilders to create traps in woods, like in predator when arnie catches the alien.

5. Vehicles get punctures and have to be repaired for time delay of say 1 minute.

There already is an "ACOG mounted M4" in the game. The

American "saboteur" units carry it.

Well... as I don't have ArmA yet (possibly a very good thing ;) I can only speculate what could work... of course The Mod of all times, FDF Mod should be converted. Of all the addons and mods I have tried over the years, FDF Mod has been and still is the most balanced and working mod. Many other addons and mods are simply unsuitable for good gameplay because of not balanced configuration values, or create too much load for the computer, making especially multiplayer sessions an unpleasant experience. Yes it is true, my opinion is a little bit biased 'cause I belong to real FDF reserves but I can't hide the truth can I? It's still teh best mod out there and it would be a shame if it wasn't converted to ArmA. Most other addons just don't give the same feeling of realism. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I fired the assault rifle RK-62 many times in reality and when I go do the same in a game, it gives me such a great vibe that I must go back once in a while just for the kicks. The quality of weapon sounds in FDF Mod still impress me (raises hat to the sound team), the sounds do sound realistic I can confirm that for sure. There is some serious talent in the FDF Mod team which should be kept utilized.

After FDF Mod has been done for ArmA, then we would need troops from other countries with config values matching close enough to the FDF Mod config values. Bundeswehr Mod is also very promising and it should definitely be co-ordinated too with the other quality mods to get the configs close enough to allow enjoyable gameplay. Also I think a good quality mod modeling the Bosnian War during the 1990's would get many fans from Europe and from North America too. It was quite unsecure and frightening time even up here in Finland, you could never say how much the war would spread out from there (like happened before) or would it just stay as a local conflict.

Thanks,

Baddo.

1. Realistically performing firearms from 'other' nations, examples include HK-G3, FNC, FAL, MG3, and more.

2. Agreed recoil and weapon configs between mod makers. that way i know that weapon X will fit in an not be either over nor underpowered. this is a big thing.

3. Same as no2 but for vehicles.

4. real time editor like VSB2. it is the same engine so there must be the possibility.

Unless there's something I'm missing, I'm not seeing much different in terms of the editor and editing capabilities in ArmA than in OFP. On the upside, that's good, because if you have edited before, there's no learning curve.

I had hoped for a bit more. Hopefully they will add more as we move on.
