No, It just takes me straight back to my desktop and causes OFP to stop operating

Wierd. That happens to my friend when he plays with BAS Pavehawks (but only them! ).

Try upgrade your graphiccard drivers (or use an older one, works when the gfx is mean to you )

It´s need some pilot addon,

try putting the plane empty in editor or change config.cpp

edit: at least that worked for me.
