sputnik monroe 102 Posted April 5, 2006 Rather than give a long story I'll just give you the situation. Earlier today I managed to saturate my pants with gasoline. Well no one I've talked to has had a solution to my problem or any advice, so I'll ask you all what I've asked my friends and family. Â Do any of you know a good home remedy for cleaning gasoline out of a pair of jeans? I figure this is an international forum, there has to be some one in the world who knows a solution. Â I don't have much clothing so the loss of a pair of pants is actually rather bad for me. I also don't exactly have money at the moment for more pants. (to add insult to injury I just bought the pair of pants two weeks a go. My first new pants in 2 or 3 years)

Maybe those shops that use chemicals to clean clothes? Forgot how it's said in english. (Dry-cleaning maybe?)
Artak 0 Posted April 5, 2006 How to get the gasoline off? Just set them on fire, the gasoline will burn right off. If you want a method where you can actually wear the pair without looking like a bum or hit by a train or both, just stick them to a washing machine. That's what I always do when I get oil/gasoline/whateverfuilds on my clothes. The washing powder's today are so strong stuff that gasoline isn't really even a challenge Saving a new topic from possible the future question: How do I get blood off my shirt? Soak the shirt or the stained spot in cold water for 2-5 hours and then wash it normally in a washer.
Sophion-Black 0 Posted April 5, 2006 I could tell you what you shouldn't do: WELD! I had some guy in my welding class that had an oil stain on his pants (happened the morning before he left for school that day) and the crazy idiot started to use oxy-acetylene torch (that burns at 5600+ degrees F) and as soon as he opened the oxygen valve on the torch (after getting a flame and not noticeing his pants had oil on it) its safe to say he had more than an oil stain on (in) this pants. doing alright now though. My best guess is to soak them in a bucket of could water with a little bit of detergent in it for a few hours then put it in the wash. (but don't hold be to it, its just a guess)
Placebo 29 Posted April 5, 2006 I think a google search is a more appropriate course of action, but good look with the cleaning
