Locke and FlashFX

Is there any way to make compatible LockeAnimMOD and FFUR's FlashFX? They both use config.bin...

FFUR already uses locke animations.

i dont see why people like these animations, they cause multiplayer issues when other people dont have them.

Right, FFUR pack uses that anims, but FlashFX doesnt...I think its very useful anim and I dont play multiplayer too often...

althou i dont play MP anymore other then the occasional one on one direct connect thing..

but that aside there is absolutly no excuse for people NOT to have these animations. no excuse whatsoever. Y2K3, FFUR, custom config, doesnt matter you should have these animations. its like a custom sky mod theres no excuse for you not to have a custom sky mod.

so if your a player in MP and you dont have locke's animation.. then you probably dont deserve to be on that server anyway. i wont say you dont deserve to own the game but yea if you dont have it, then its your own fault and i pity you not. if u crash your game because you have 23 other server players with it and your the only moron out of the loop well then you deserve to get kicked off the server or have your game crash or whatever your fate may be. crazy_o.gif

oh and to answer your question, why people like these animations. probably the same reason they like to live during a mission. peek around a corner fire off a few and peak back. only part of you is exposed the rest of you is well hidden and can quickly go from hidden to exposed. the roll animation has saved me on numerious occasions getting shot at using the roll to dodge bullets.

note: airblade im not calling you an idiot, im talking about the people that dont use these animations

I dont play MP and like to lean. It feels weird to not be able to lean now after using FFUR or Y2K3 so I've been adding locke to any mod I try that doesnt have lean in it already. Im a total newb at config editing and it was quite painless to do.

So what about my issue? How to make 'em compatible? can somebody who works with config files tell me what and how should i do? and im also dont give a hell if someone on server doesnt have mods i have...i just use flashpoint for my own...

Ofp.info has a working one. Its the one I've been using. Not sure if there is a newer version.

I think the easiest method is to add the locke pbo to you flashfx addon file and then edit your flashfx config file.

I added locke to ECP and other mods by using BINview to convert the mod's config bin to cpp so I could edit it. Then in the locke mod files I searched the provided cpp files to see where locke was mentioned and edited the config I wanted to update accordingly.

Example - changed fastL="CombatRunL" to fastL="Locke_StandLeanLeft"

Did the above for each instance of locke. Once done I changed the updated cpp back to a bin by using cpp2bin. Of course I backed up my original bin so that I could always get back to the original mod status if needed.

By doing the above it just took a little time to get the lean working and I learned a bit about config editing at the same time.

There is bound to be a better explanation in a tutorial or a post on these forums if you search enough.

Why not just use latest FFUR mods such as FFUR1985 or FFUR2005?

People could say EXACTLY the same thing about the other 40 or so (that I know of) animation replacement packs that are floating around. I for one don't use Locke's pack because my squad server doesn't (and never will) use it. I instead stick with either Sanctuary's pack, or the DMA/Sanctuary's Next Generation Pack combined with his pistol-animation replacement pack, depending on what mood I'm in. The same goes for FFUR/Y2K3/insert name of unit replacement mod here, the server wont use them, so I wont use them (for MP) - I'll use them for SP sure.

Maybe I am simply mis-understanding you, but it seems you're saying that there is no excuse for someone to not use a specific animation mod (in this case: Locke's with the leaning/rolling). If that is a correct interpretation of what you're saying, then you need a slap rofl.gif

no, use any animation pack you want.

but theres no excuse for not using the leaning and rolling features. use any animation pck you want.. use your own custom one.. but by giving up the ability to lean and roll in a game is like saying "well i dont think i need a gun either.. no sense in defending myself"

being able to hide behind a building, pop out, fire off a few, and pop back in without exposing your entire body is a nice feature. being able to roll to doge bullets, or better yet roll down a hill sideways instead of OFP forcing you to crawl down on your belly at 0.003mph so it takes u 15 seconds to get down a steep hill instead of an hour and 5 minutes is also a nice feature too.

locke's rolling and leaning animation can be used in conjuncture with any one of the hundreds of animation packs. but again to willlingly say you want to play without the ability to lean and roll is just plain section 8.

Typically, the laughing/grinning (or in thise case the rolling on the floor laughing) smilie means the preceeding text implies a joke. This case is no different, I was kidding.

I made a version of FlashFX 2.0 that had these animations integrated, only problem is: I'm not at my regular computer right now, so I don't have access to the files.
