S_Z 0 Posted January 19, 2002 There has been a lot of talk here about the armor of the different vehicles…someone said you could take out a M1A1 with 3 LAWs so  I wanted to check it out for my self. I just opened the mission editor and added an empty M1A1 and some ammo started to shoot at the tank. What I came up with was this: Front: 6 LAW   Back: 7 LAW Hmm what’s up with that…not very realistic!! The front SHOULD be more protected than the back of a tank!! I tried some different tanks and got the same result…the back is more protected than the front This cant be right! Is it just my version of OFP or what? BTW the extended armor option is off. Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted January 19, 2002 Maybe you didn't hit it properly? What did you aim for? Turret? Main body? Tracks? And how far away were you, maybe some of the missiles missed it?

Sounds like there is something wrong with my OFP...
christophercles 0 Posted January 19, 2002 No nearly everybody i talk to says thats how many it takes, when i do it it does the same. anyway! it deserves that kind of armour!
Damage Inc 0 Posted January 19, 2002 I can't destroy it with 3 LAWs, but I can't destroy a T80 with 3 LAWs either.
S_Z 0 Posted January 19, 2002 But the thing is that the front is weaker than the back of the tank...that cant be right, it should be the other way around
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted January 19, 2002 Hmm, i can kill the m1a1 with 6 laws from the back....also with the front. It takes 4 hit on the turret to disable it.
caz 0 Posted January 19, 2002 whats the best place to attack on a tank? i always go for its barrel so it wont be able to aim properly
Antichrist 0 Posted January 19, 2002 Damn that is strange in version 1.00 and demo 3 LAWs was enough to kill Abrams but now it is obviously not enough
suchey 0 Posted January 19, 2002 even though it wont kill the tank...you can usually whack the crew with less

It was easier to take out the T-80 if you fired at the front(main body) of it. So if you are in a tank battle you should turn your tank so the back is fronting the enemy tank to get maximum protection…now that’s very realistic
Thehamster 0 Posted January 19, 2002 If I'm lucky I can usually disable a tank with 5 laws to the turret. But most of the time it takes a fair bit more to do it.
S_Z 0 Posted January 19, 2002 I think I was too quick in saying that I got the same result with tanks vs tank…I tried it a couple of more times and this time I got the result I wanted  in tanks vs tanks the front armor is stronger than the back… This is strange…
