The Yugoslavian civil wars in the 1990's

After the fall of Communism in 1989, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, independent from the Soviet branch of Communism since 1948, faced not only the fall of Communism but also the failure of the Pan-Slav movement that founded that country. Slavs turned out to be not so Pan after all. Prospering Slovenia and Croatia demanded democratic institutions for the entire country, or else they would secede. In Serbia, Slobodan Milosevic was in power, pressing a fiercely nationalistic and communist repression upon the minorities of the Serbian autonomous provinces of Kosovo i Metohija (mostly Albanian) and Vojvodina. (Mostly Serb, but with important Hungarian, German and Roumanian minorities) The autonomy of these Serbian provinces was revoked by Milosevic. In 1991 the Joint Federal Presidency of Yugoslavia collapsed. Slovenia and Croatia seceded and the First Yugoslavian war broke out.

When Slovenia and Croatia had won their independence, Bosnia and Herzegovina also reluctantly declared independence. The large Serb and Croat minorities in this country found this unacceptable. They didn't want to be in the same state with the ruling Bosnian muslins. Dissident Republics of Croats and Serbs were founded and supported by Rump-Yugoslavia (Serbia) and Croatia. A Second Yugoslavian, or indeed Bosnian war in which scandalous atrocities effected mostly muslims, but also Croats, ensued. Ethnic cleansing became a household word in Europe. The atrocities were mostly performed by the "Republika Srpska", the dissident Republic of the Serb population of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Territories conquered by Srpska were cleansed of their non-Serb populations. This often included acts of genocide like the one in Eastern Bosnian Srebrenica in 1995. Horrible atrocities were performed upon the people of Sarajevo, pedestrians being machine-gunned in their own streets. The muslim government, until then claiming to represent Muslims, Croats and Serbs, made a federation with the Bosnian Croats. NATO enforced a no-flying zone above the entire country and enforced the Dayton Peace Treaty, in which Rump-Yugoslavia and Croatia took part, representing their vassals in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This treaty ended the war and made Bosnia and Hercegovina into a federation between the Muslim-Croat, and the Srpska parts, both under NATO occupation. The peace is still brittle and uneasy. Many officials of Republika Srpska and the Muslim-Croat federation are still wanted for war crimes by an International Tribunal for war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, set up by the United Nations in The Hague. Many officials of Croatia proper and Rump-Yugoslavia are also wanted. All parties, including Rump-Yugoslavia, have obliged themselves to answer to this court. They are however reluctant to perform their duties towards this court. In the mean time the Croatians dealt with their own Serb opponents within Croatia proper. In the east they faced Serb opposition in Vukovar and surroundings. A peaceful settlement was made there. In the Southwest, the Serb Republic of the Krajina, a spin-off of the Bosnian Republika Srpska, was conquered and ethnically cleansed.

After the Bosnian war, Rump-Yugoslavia was confronted with an uprising of Kosovo-Albanians from one of its former autonomous provinces. Attrocities against the Albanians of Yugoslavia were widely reported. NATO intervened with air strikes and occupied Kosovo. The Third Yugoslavian war thus ensued in 1999. Eventually Kosovo was occupied by NATO forces and is now administered by the United Nations, remaining formally a part of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia has seen revolutionary democratic reforms since. Milosevic has been ousted and handed over to the Tribunal in The Hague.

A Fourth Yugoslav war became evident in 2001 when the Albanian minority in Macedonia was plunged into war by the encouragement of their Kosovo neighbours. NATO intervened there also, and a new constitution, giving more rights to Albanians was enforced. The whole thing became eclipsed by the occurences of the 11th of September in New York, and the war in Afghanistan that still has all the attention.

To clarify these events I have included a map of the ethnic makeup of Yugoslavia as it was in 1991. It includes a legenda. Also a series of small maps (taken from the bigger ones) depicting the growth of Yugoslavia from its Serbian origin, and its decline has been added. They can be seen by clicking on the above buttons.

A map of the political situation today is to be found here. Within the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the Montenegrin partner is shown, as is NATO occupied, and UN administered Kosovo (formally a part of Serbia). Within Bosnia and Hercegovina the border between the Serbian Republic (Srpska) and the Muslim-Croat Federation (Federation of Bosnia-Hercegovina) is shown. The differences with the ethnic map of 1991 are evident and give you a picture of where the ethnic cleansing has been going on. A black arrow pointing from Kosovo to Macedonia represents the latest clashes between Albanian and Slav Macedonians, inspired by UCK forces (Albanian Liberation Army) that crossed over from Kosovo into Macedonia.

This mod is based on Cleanrocks crCTI 0.91 engine

, and it’s theater is the yugoslavian war of 1991 until 1996.

This MOD contains a lot of various high-quality units from lowland warriors  and bkm mod .

We added  many extra’s new to cti with help of ignacio like advance  aa  warning system, new base templates for ai commanders

You can play like a serbian or a dutchbat soldier on  more than 15 different islands .

We added many yugoslavain islands like Gregoriov, lipovac , Virovitica and CAF_Slavonia.

While making the mod we added more and more features ,  like ships, hovercrafts etc.

So on some islands yugo war lost it’s historical idea and become YUGO TOTAL WAR with t90, leopards,f16, mig31 and fast attack ships.

Surprisly the mod is quit fast ,comparing the amout off units we added (unit limit)

after we removed the brt and the sava.

We also tried to add “dogfight†in the mod so aa planes are not very expansive and ai commander will build them rapidly

I hope you like this cr cti modification.

I should roll back to the matter of Macedonia.Forgive me for doing that,but i just wanna say my opinion on this matter.

Operation Flashpoint it is only a game at the end.True!But no one has the right to change names and history of a country in the name of "GAME".We should respect here,and NOT to devastating all things.

It's sure that he who knows history,knows the truth.Macedonia was always a Greek territory and not some kind of fun park!

I mean, its one thing to be proud of your country, but another to be getting pissed off because some guy who worked his arse off to produce a mod wrote 'Macedonia' instead of 'FYR Macedonia' on some little map that he used to explain the story to people who dont know it. Yah - sorry my fault - it wasn't buildings but streets or bridges

(while i'm not entirely sure about bridges aswell).

But in case someone needs an atomic plant fake - we got

one in Austria (few kilometers from Vienna) - it never got

activated upon reaction of the majority living around there.
