You know Gen. Patton wanted to invade the Soviet Union after WWII. He never trusted the Russians.

So what if, Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt listened to Patton. And had the U.S. Troops invade north after the fall of Berlin?

I'm glad we never found out.

But WHAT IF..?

I'm thinking about making a WW2 style campaign called:

"Eagle vs. Bear" The What If campaign.

I'm wanna use Lib. 1941 Mod. and 101st addons.

What I need is a good Island and good WWII U.S. tanks.

Maybe I could get a couple of good mission makers too!

I would like to make 2 of the same missions. This way you can play as either side on the same mission. I figure 10 missions for each side!

What do you all think?

Clever idea, I know I would definately like to see something like this in OFP. It wouldn't have to be full-fledged war, just possibly a confrontation between U.S. and Soviet troops.

And use the addons that are already out there.

Liberation 1941 mod. has great addons!

And the 101st looks and sound great!

That's a pretty good idea actually, it definately has a lot of promise. I reckon a lot of it would be battling in Berlin and Europe. But then this could be followed up with sea battles in the Pacific, and possibly coastal landings on either Russia or America...

Hmm... Interesting... in fact, why not twist the plot a little further, and let the western allies sign a peace treaty with the Germans. Something that Stalin had nightmares about.

The Americans had trouble producing the bombs, and if I remember if the War with Japan had gone on the U.S. would have had to rush bombs "off the production line" straight onto the shores of Japan. They would have only been able to produce one or two bombs a month due to the shortage of Plutonium. Plus, Russia was so big it would have taken quite a few to make old "Uncle Joe" back off .

I like the idea, but if you're gonna do berlin, include whatever British troops are out there - it was our idea to go for Berlin!

Well I've been searching and searching.

So far the best island I found is, War Island.

The Liberation Mod 41-45, those Russians are some tough Sons of B****!

I also found that the M-26 tank stands up decent to the T-34!

But you got to out number them 2-1 to win!

Also the troops vs. troops fights last alot longer!

I think I'm gonna try it.

But I could use some help!

You mean a unit replacement pack type thing? Sounds good!!

Although the M-26 could stand up to the T-34, the russians could build thousands of them, and get them to Berlin quicker than the Americans could get their shermans there.

Of course, American/British airpower would compensate there.

Also, I can imagine some newly captured soviet countries revolting due to a veriety of reasons, IF the Allience started their march to Moscow.

It would be rather interesting to see re-armed Germans fighting alongside the Americans, especially since it seems Berlin/Germany would be the front-line for the war.

I remember reading some time ago a few of the higher SS-men thought that they would be kept around after the war to keep order in Germany, especially with the threat of USSR right there.

Still, it would be interesting to see an early stage of the 'Cold War' if that could be said..

I think if I, (And any others want to help.) would stick to what Patton and others thought. It may be a good little campaign!

Yea.., Re-arming the German Army may be a good idea!

This way.., We can use more stuff made by the Liberation 1941 - 1945 Mod.

But I wouldn't mind getting more help!

We could whip this out in a month or so!

I'm making a intro mission right now to see if more people would like the idea!

Edit: Maybe Berlin 1945 can be involved somehow, it would definately help with making a Berlin-styled map with rubble and destroyed buildings as well as using late-war German weaponry and units.

Its not just the yanks and germans. My Great Uncle was based in berlin after the war with the british. Apparently there was a farm or radio station(can't remember which) on the British/American/Russian boarder and every couple of days the russians would "invade" it and hold it for a while then the yanks/british would "take it back". this went on for a year or so apparently. My uncle said it was very scray beening so close to the russians as they had a LOT of troops and tanks in berlin. He was in an armoured scout car that they could electrify as a defensive measure, but that don't stop rockets or tank shells . He said lucky nothing happened cause it would have been one hell of a fight, but both america and britian had plans to re-arm germany if needed, with france not real keen on the idea.

Edit. Im sure A-Bombs would have been used if it started to come to another stalingrad/kursk, yanks im sure heard stories about the northern campaign

You beat me to the punch, I was going to mention the battle "Patton was right" from Steel Panthers III: Brigade Command.

I remember that mission had you as a joint American British defence against the Russians if I remember correctly. My only vague memory of it was my British Comets getting knocked out by a group of Josef Stalin tanks. It was a snow map if I remember right.

Well I got British and American troops and tanks! (WWII style.)

And I'm also using the Lib. 41-45 Mod.

This way the Americans, Brits, and maybe down the road.

Have the Germans re-armed by the Allies, attack the Russians!

Again..! I really could use some decent mission makers!

This way we can get this done quicker!

This is probably one of the best probable mods around, but the US and britain already had trouble handeling the German tanks and armour it would be really hard to destroy the t34s which were considered a formidable tank and the t34s were used in greater numbers. I suppose the allies advantage was better trained troops, superiour support, superior tactics and air support but hey what has changed US and its allies still hold these traits even to this day. hehe

Your right! That's why it would be important to re-arm the German military. They made great tanks. Even though the T-34 were probably the best tanks of WWII. Also later in the war. The U.S. had th M-26. Which was also a great tank! Too bad it never really got to see alot of action during WWII. But proved itself during the Korean War!

This may be come a great almost non-fiction campaign!
