Metalmalte 0 Posted September 25, 2005 hi guys since we now have such nice additions like the FFUR pack coming out soon, which puts our ofp into a modern and higher level, i thought, why don't the islands grow with then? i mean, making war in such countryside areas like on malden is not fun anymore then, i could imagine. we need bigger towns, with skyscrapes etc, in my opinion. the towns should also become more modern etc. what i want to say, why is there no mod team out, that makes such buildings? i would really like to make such things, but on my own that would take too long i think. i can texture and make models... so who is also for such things? somebloke 0 Posted September 25, 2005 It all comes down to how much lag they produce for lower spec machines. AFAIK a vast majority of the ofp community has less than 1.5ghz/2ghz machines and alot less than the latest gfx cards. But the thing is, Why would you want any of those buildings? In all honesty i can't see a point in having "the Gherkin" in Ofp nor a 1,000 ft skyscraper. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Reven 0 Posted September 25, 2005 We tried new islands in FFUR 5.0 Beta but it made too many problems. BIS and other mission makers have designed their missions around the default islands, so replacing them with retextured and re-designed islands with different gradients and building locations often screwed things up. Metalmalte 0 Posted September 25, 2005 just put up a small foretwon building in 2mins with a texture of what i was thinking. not bigger, well maybe, but not more than 5 stores. and i want to make it enterable. this is just a test remember... oh, what style should the buildings be? fitting to the standard islands or completely new modern style!?! I will show you guys later some screens about them. Acecombat 0 Posted September 25, 2005 Idea is nice but just isnt for OFP , better wait for ArmA and then see if it can be done properly. The current engine just pops its clogs when too many objects are around and fps drops to crap plus AI handling inside buildings is sh!t. From what i saw in the OFP:E videos on gamespot for Xbox the in-building clipping issue had seem resolved or decreased to a considerable extent , so i am keeping my fingers crossed on ArmA also having an improvement on this aspect.
