stgn 39 Posted September 7, 2005 It could be Australian SAS(they did go there didn't they?) And if you make the uniform look realistic - not just copy paste a tigerstripe texture in too your jon doe kit - I will be looking forward to this. STGN

Hawkins 8 Posted September 7, 2005 Also, Wasnt the Fal around in vietnam days. I remenber pics of Aussie using it in Nam The 7.62 L1A1 SLR. If you're interested Batdog, or anyone else, read more: http://www.gruntonline.com/TheWar/ANZACs/anzac_forces.htm http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-weapons/allied_recent.htm Offtime, how will you release these units? Will you allow people to use them and make more variations, like CIDG and the works? I would be thoroughly interested of getting a MLOD version of these very good looking units. Probably gonna be the best 'Nam SF out to date.
offtime 0 Posted September 7, 2005 like all my other projects, this one also will be open source

STGN ooooo, sorry to hear than m8, looks like you wont be looking forward this addon... shame, i was doing it especialy for you. You where thats too bad - please don't do it again. But you realy should make sure than pocket placement and those sort of things are correct. STGN
Hawkins 8 Posted September 7, 2005 like all my other projects, this one also will be open source Excellent. As said by vektorboson, this is how the community should've and should work. You can expect to see variations of these guys once you release them, but as always, I can't make a 100% promise.

belgerot 33 Posted September 7, 2005 They are looking really nice, glad to see this gives a chance for some good looking Special Forces for use in Vietnam missions of any nation. I would be glad to see some Aussie/New Zealand units eventually, as well as US Forces wearing the Tiger Striped uniform Perhaps there can be a MACV-SOG type unit as well? offtime 0 Posted September 7, 2005 ok skipping sarcasm and other crap whats wrong with pockets ? im polish, i know shit about 'nam. i also know that jungle boots may be wrong anyone has some good pics of those used in vietman ?
Panda-PL- 0 Posted September 7, 2005 oh, and yes, FN FAL is wrong for 'nam, im using it just temporarily ;-) You should use Dan's M14 pack (M14 and M14a2). http://screenshots.filesnetwork.com/37/files2/41741_2.jpg Really nice guns. The bolt actually opens to show round being chambered when fired ( !! ) . And M14 was widely used before M16 was brought to Nam.
Sepe 1 Posted September 7, 2005 Also, a good AK/Chicom wouldn't be bad. The US SF (other GIs too, of course) used 'em a lot because they had bigger magazine capasity than Colt's guns and most importantly, they actually fed. Lookin' great!

But you realy should make sure than pocket placement and those sort of things are correct. STGN im beging you, could you at least play around with it on desert island whens released ? for 3 minutes ? and only after that trash it ? please, please, please  Did I trash it? then im sory I just think the shadow texture from the jon doe addon(which was very nicly done) dosen't completly fit that uniform. The picture you posted didn't realy show how the addon looked from the front which is why I said in a stupid(after a bit of consideration) way that I hoped that it would not be the same thats why I worte "just". On the pockets they need in my humble opinion detail especialy if you doing a 1024x1024 texture and they well arnt shaped correct(look at pictures). About the boots shearch for GI jungle boots or somthing liike that and you will see how they should look. Now that you have posted thei good picture of the soldier i might as well go on: The tigerstripe size on the body and the hat dosn't seem to match also the legs and the body dosen't seem to have the same sixe either, looks a bit too shiny for a RIPSTOCK uniform. Other than that looks prity good. STGN

STGN thanks for your sugestions, i will take them under consideration, just becouse i cant argue with them, your right. as for boots, writting in google "jungle boots" gives me shitload of different boots, and i have no idea wich ones were used in nam. so is there any spec that could support me with correct pics ? belgerot 33 Posted September 7, 2005 http://www.airsoftreenactorsgroup.com/jungle_boots.jpg That is the style of boots worn I believe, the caption below the picture said that they were dated from 1969.
panzergrenadier3 39 Posted September 7, 2005 Yes, this are the right ones. Like these: Link1 Link2 Link3 Cool units! Looking forward to them!
offtime 0 Posted September 7, 2005 for now ive changed a little pattern dimensions if legs are 1, then chest is 1/2 and hat 1/4 all tho im not sure if whole pattern isnt to big also boots should fit to nam era now
Wadmann 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Looks good although they do look very much like the new reproduction patterns available these days. If you want some real VN style tigerstripe patterns, check out some of the patterns on my site (link in signature). I have golden and a couple of different US and VN patterns to choose from. If you want any higher res or close ups, just let me know. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing them ingame sometime soon. Wadmann
offtime 0 Posted September 8, 2005 if you can provide big enought sample that would be greate also other camos on your page look very interesting you thought about making "textures/samples" section on your page ? anyway after messing with pattern size and adding ripstop factor Jon looks now like that:
