Revolt 1998 Released!

Recommended Posts

...while loading, ofp froze...

Are You playing with ECP or other Mod. I had such a problom only with other missions, if to many scripts are running (f.e. ECP).

Take a look in the flashpoint.rpt file. It´s in the main OFP-Folder. Sometimes an error report shows the problem.

In two weeks of beta-testing - no problems like this.

My PC specs:

Intel P4 2.8GHz

1024 MB DDR-RAM

GF4800Ti

If you have less than 512 MB or 2 GHz CPU drop down the texture-details in your flashpoint.cfg to 512x512 or 256x256.

Maybe this can help.

S.D.

Secret: You can use campaign-cheat in the camapign-overview to select your previous played mission.

Just finished mission 2 and sofar I must say:

Simply amazing...totally immersive!

Only very, very minor annoyance is I REALY have to pay attention to not getting hit, hehe.

Crawling all the time s***s.

Maybe a medic once or twice would have been nice (or play missions 2 as delta-ops) but hey...thats war.

Very impressive!, 10 out of 10 Lama's.

Awesome......Totally Awesome! Everything about it I have loved so far!!!

But there is one problem I'm having!

Mission 4 "Fuel on Fire"....... I've completed the mission but still it won't let me go on to the 5th mission! It just loops back to the start of the 4th mission!

What am I doing wrong or is it a bug?

Ps. So what is your next job King? Movie director?!!!

Did the mission end after you entered the bradleys? Then you must have pressed accidentally restart. Otherwise you failed the mission, lost to many men or something. The mission should work just fine.

I won't be doing anything as big as this at least for a year or two... if ever, i dunno. There's just too much work to do in a campaign like this. But don't get me wrong, it has definately been a lot of fun and now I'm very proud to release this baby, though there has obviously been few times when I've forcibly worked on an annoying problem just to get forward in the project and secondly simply this campaign being so big of a project it's exhausting to get it to see the daylight in the first place. Especially mission makers must know what I'm talking about. wink_o.gif

The only way I got this campaign to work was by doing a fresh install of OFP/RES on another hard drive(Didnt wanna delete my old installation thats all modded out with addons and campaigns)So now it does in fact work and its great.Musta been a conflict with my old installation,I must have over 200 addons (BAS,FDF,CLSA,etc etc.)installed in that one, lol.

WOW! I can assure you that I know what you're talking about.

The amount of work and subtle details are incredible. And you really feel like you're right there in the middle of the action.

This is an amazing peace of work.

Well done!

90% of the OFP Addon campaigns I've played I get bored of 2-3 missions in.

Not this one.

The detail, story and immersion is above even the BIS original Res and 1985 CWC, which I thought were easily 10/10.

We need more campaigns like this, I hope you have more planned King_Nothing!

Whilst my squad was entering the Bradleys(I didn't lose a single soul!wink_o.gif), I was searching around for unfriendlys so I was the last one in.

I'm sure I hit Continue on both occasions, but today, Mission 5 appeared.

Well I'm off to finish this captivating campaign! Thanks again!!!

I'm stumped again in "Respect the Gun". Everytime I fire the gun, it shows a picture of him with the empty shell ejecting and a clicking noise like he's continually reloading, but nothing else happens for over 1 minute!

I've found out how to overcome this problem by useing the Alt-Tab then Clicking back into the game again whereupon it shows me the infamous "camera on a bullet" camera view! Maybe I need to redownload the Campaign again!

I also am very impressed.

I only managed to fire this campaign up for the first time the other day, and boy was I stunned!

I haven't seen an OFP campaign (or mission) this good in a very long time... the cinematics put shivers up my spine, and the missions are varied and well thought out.

I recommend this campaign to everyone... it's really quite something!

You exceeded my expecations by a great deal, King Nothing. Excellent work! smile_o.gif

Kaos,

I experienceed the same thing on "Respect the Gun", except instead of ALT-tabbing i hit escape to pause, then the bullet cam would launch. None the less, it was a great mission. But i was really impressed when i got to the "failed infiltration" mission with the tonali sf, the cutscene was awesome...and the mission was just as good.

King Nothing,

I hope you plan on making more campaigns. I think you have an excellent formula that will continue to amaze us and allow us to finally put to use these wonderful addons that have accumulated over the years. It's campaigns like this that make it all work together and make the efforts of the community all worth while.

Congratulations on this Masterpiece of a campaign, great cutscenes good and varied missions that require guts and brain.

It's wonderfull you spend your time and made this, many thanks.

Also to have now some of those astonishing addons put into non the less astonishing missions is a wonderfull expirience.

The small details added to the missions make this one a great expirience. Besides TYtD, Retaliation and the original CWC and Resistance campaigns this one will certainly get it's place in the hall of fame. You were also able to go way beyond your former work OP Mercury, which was the very first custom camapigns i dl and played.

Being now into third mission and i thought hey let's bring it on, we're the best, we're tough, we're Rangers!

We're just two?

Although I see your problem as AI pathfinding in Tatu is somewhat strange and a full squad would have keept me busy collecting the guys gone astray rather than conducting the raid.

Downside was my sqadmade killed himself with a grenade or was killed right as we had stung into the weapon storage area (a real hornets nest) and the mission was lost. Wtf? was the first thing that came to my mind, better leave him in the truck the second.

One other thing that irritated me.

Why was the Bradley in Mission two a early one without additional amour? As Mech. Infantry soilder i would feel a lot safer with any inch of amour between a gang of RPG worshipping rebels and me.

S! And keep up the good work!

It's really an outstanding campaign!

Oh, and King Nothing you... wink_o.gif

You just cought me cheating and forced me to replay Rebel Tide. smile_o.gif

I've tried to cheat because objective 1 was still unfinished, though I was able to complete everything else of the mission and don't wanted to search again for a few rebels without a logical reason.

I hope no one encounters a big bad bug in some of the missions, that could make this "feature" annoying.

EDIT:

I hope to finish mission Restoration someday. If the city is so dangerous, why won't the damn armor just wait until I'm ready to escort them? (Or at least until I'm dead tounge2.gif)

Everytime they get blown up it says. I can't imagine a way to accomplish the first three objectives and to rearm and to reach the armor in 15(20) minutes.

It's to difficult to move with the ai squad, even if I won't have so much lag.

EDIT: Well, I've finaly made it, but not in the briefing order. That adds to the chaotic atmosphere, and now it's my favorite mission of revolt. smile_o.gif

I've played this campaign through and I thorougly enjoyed it. I can only echo what others have said - this is a fine piece of work. The storytelling during the campaign using cutscenes is...just plain sweet.

To KN and everyone involved: thanks for making this! thumbs-up.gif

The quirks I encountered were just small ones, but I'll list them here if you want to revisit it and/or polish it.

* Some missions will give you an error dialog "Cannot load mission, missing addon <something>". Some cutscenes failed for the same reason. This occured for

<ul>[*] "Rebel Tide" (Revolt05M) since it needs to have "jam_magazines" and "bn_tracers123" added to the mission.sqm's "addons[]" part.

[*] "<Lorengau Traegdy>" (Revolt08CS) needs "bn_tracers123" listed.

* The radio message recordings were almost impossible to decipher, since you seem to have added "radio static" to the samples beforehand. IIRC, OFP adds it's own static, rendering the radio comms to come out "doubly garbled". It's probably better to have the recordings in the clear and let OFP add the scratchy radio static to them by itself.

* There seemed to be some trouble keeping track of the number of surviving team members from "Cutting the lead" (Revolt09M) and I ended up with one member less than I should have when starting "Restoration" (Revolt10M). Trouble with OFP's "saveVar" and "saveStatus", perhaps?

Those issues aside, though, it's still one of if not the most well-made user campaign for OFP. Rock, rock on! yay.gif

Thanks for the good feedback again, I enjoy reading it. smile_o.gif

There's still the same bug in the bonus mission "Respect the Gun"? If someone finds out how to fix it please tell me, it seems to be a random problem because I didn't have it when I was doing the final testing with that mission. Must be an ofp bug as it shouldn't get stuck in the cutscene like that, it should just wait a second or two (not sure) after the shot is fired and then proceed to the bullet chase, there no condition that have to be met, just a time delay. I thought I fixed it when I guessed that it was caused by the script executing more that once and prevented this from happening with a variable, still no luck it seems. The script is executed with the eventhandler "fired".

@Tannethal

Some of the missions are already a bit too easy so I had to sacrifice some realism for better playability. So more armor, infantry, squad mates and other support in the mission would be realistic, sure, but then the missions would be way too easy as well.

@Trapper

I know the armors are stubborn as*h**es but I didn't bother to add a new triggers to get them wait for your call because of fear of new bugs, I was sick and tired of testing that mission. You don't have to do all other objectives before escorting the armors, just do what you think you can and then go for the armors.

@Killswitch

Thanks for the missing addon report. I know the radio transmission are too garbled but I realized that after I got them ingame wink_o.gif. I was aware about the game adding it's own static but it was too weak imo. In mission 10 you had 1 member less because 1 of your team members left you for escorting the rebel leader back to base in mission 9, remember?

Of course. I took that into account. Mission #9 started with five team members. Later, one of them babysits the rebel leader back and I'm left with four team members (including me)

Enter mission #10 and I find myself and two other guys. #4 was...lost.

I am psyched about playing this Tonal Isle campaign! Tonal is a masterpiece of immersive design, and if everyone here is raving about the new campaign set there, well... It's just impossible for me to resist!

I'm in the midst of downloading all the necessary addons, and I have a question about an inoperative link, this one:

-Combat! Misc Pack http://combataddons.com/modules....&lid=34

It leads to a screen that won't open up a "Save to" window. I did a keyword search for "Combat!" and the only hit it gave me that MIGHT be the file I need is this:

http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=6848

Is it the "M 113 Pack v1.1" the file I need? Please confirm. If it isn't the correct file, would someone be so kind as to supply a link for me and others to use? Thanks!

I read in this forum a reply where a player was playing this campaign while having the Y2K3 mod activated. This doesn't cause any problems does it?

One of the features I enjoy with the Y2K3 mod is it allows the player to lean. If I don't use the Y2K3 mod, am I still able to lean in the game, or do I need a separate download in order to do that? I'm just worried that the campaign will somehow conflict with the Y2K3 mod, so if it does conflict then I'd like to know what my leaning options are...

For now, one last question: sometimes I have TWO arrowhead-cursors that show up during the Mission Briefings; one looks normal but doesn't actually interact with anything, while the second "ghost-like/pale" arrowhead is able to click on and select items. Occassionally, one of these arrowheads is present in the game WHILE the mission is PLAYING. I have installed FOUR big mods to my OFP: FFUR 3.5, FFUR 5.0 (won't load properly), Y2K3 mod, and Tonal Isle. Any advice on how to correct this scenario so that there's only one arrowhead that will properly disappear when the mission starts?

Thanks for the hard work! Looking forward to the responses!

Kyle

Combat! Addons and also the Misc-File You find here:

http://www.combataddons.com/

Misc-file download:

http://www.combataddons.com/dload.php?action=file&file_id=9

the "I have TWO arrowhead-cursors" thing:

must be a screen resolution problem, try ALT+TAB

Not knowing about the Y2K3 compatibility, but maybe there are some problems because Y2K3 also uses some of the Revolt-Addons. And if OFP load one addon two times at start - maybe problems.

Compare the addon-picture from the first post with your addons in the y2k3-folder and install only the additional used addons in a second mod-folder.

Enjoy

S.D.

Hi,

Just a note to anyone who was having trouble saving/loading in the "Deal with the dealer" mission. This was a JAM3 related problem - a fix is now available in the JAM3 thread.

Fantastic work King Nothing. 1985 CWC quality. notworthy.gif

Cheers,

CH

Sudden Death,

THANK YOU for supplying the links to both the Combat! site and to the specific file I needed! The "Misc." file has nothing to do with M 113 file I erroneously downloaded. That probably saved me a lot of wasted time trying to figure out what was wrong. Thank you for that.

I'll also try the "Alt+Tab" key combo to see if that addresses the double arrowhead-cursor error I'm experiencing. Thanks for the advice. Now I'm two steps closer to trying out this raved about campaign. Can't wait!

Yours,

Kyle

I recommend not to use any other addons than the ones needed for playing the campaign. To make sure you don't run into problems do a separate mod folder for the campaign and install the needed addons and the campaign file there.

EDIT: Oh and delete or move all custom addons from original ofp and res addon folders to other mod folders.
