Firendly Markers on map in MP

Recommended Posts

Hi there.

I was wondering, now that this game is awesome and all, theres only one thing that I dont like. Why not make it so when you place markers on the map during an MP game, only your teammates will be able to see it?

It would be very usefull especially in Clan matches etc. Right now we are forced to ALT-tabbing to desktop to see strateges etc. It will also make a recon groups job alot easier, faster and more efficient.

BIS please comment on this one.

thanks

Yeah....side-specific markers would indeed be a nice addition. I believe we already asked BIS about it a long time ago, but I dunno why they didnt add it smile.gif

Yep... though it might take away my laughs when the other team discuss their strategy on the map smile.gif. At least i have the global channel then to gather intel.

This has been present in OFP since first release (1.00). All markers placed during MP game are visible to those listening on the radio channel currently selected for transmission. If you want to place marker only friendly troops will see, select Side channel. If you want to place marker for your group only, select Group channel.

I've been using it for a long time, and it works great... It's always funny when people ask for stuff that's already been implimented  biggrin.gif

Updated documentation, even if it is only in Adobe Acrobat/PDF format, would surely help.

Even some basic things like how to use the built-in voice communications, configuring firewalls for use with OFP etc. are a complete mystery to newcomers.

(Hint, hint!)

I NEVER EVEN KNEW THAT EVERYONE COULD SEE THE MARKERS!

Baahhhhh! I'm a moron.

That's why people were calling me an idiot... hahaha... sad.gif

I sometimes add taunts on the map just to tick people off -- things like "Doug likes men!", because I know sooner or later he'll be looking at the map. biggrin.gif

Regarding markers in MP, I have a rather special question:

What are the markernames?

In SP the markernames are given by "_USER_DEFINED #0/X", where X is a running number X=1,2,... according to the sequence they were placed.

In MP this doesn´t seem to work. Has it something to do with changing the first number #Y/X ?

It would be nice if one could process the poitions of playerplaced-markers in scripts also in MP.

Would be nice to see WHO is adding the markers, even if it's only the admin seeing this, since some really immature people spams the maps sometimes, very annoying....

Any way to clear a map of markers after they have been placed?

I got a buddy who likes to cover my map with markers when we play adversarial... Sure he needs all the help he can get but I don't like this feature to be my handicap to help him. wink.gif
