DBR_ONIX 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Yeh, after about 20 seconds of "investigating", I realised it would be uploaded to Filefront So, if someone can find who-evers-uploading-it's My-Files thing where it'll be hosted till it's submitted to the actual publicly-listed thing............ Meh, it's just as easy to wait a day Good luck with the release - Ben
Thunderbird 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Quote[/b] ]This formation is a "must have" feature in my book, and while the hour may be late, it'd still be great if it could be somehow integrated into FFUR's releases, even if it's only through a patch. Hi, No but we'd maybe include it in the extra config pack expected that we'd release a bit later after the main huge releases. Regards TB84
Wonder 0 Posted October 24, 2005 A suggestion for a unit replacement: BIS BRDM (OT-65) -> BRDM-2 (at least FDF has one) Likewise west could use a HMMWV with .50cal (CBT or Semper Fidelis)
Thunderbird 0 Posted October 24, 2005 FFUR 2005: Quote[/b] ]... · Jeep -> Hmmwv Open · JeepMG -> Hmmwv Open with M2 ... We've already replaced the BRDM a few months ago by the OT-65 from CSLA but we removed it cuz there was a bug when the vehicle was in water... Actually, it's too late to make any replacement, 90% of packs are already online. Kind Regards Thunderbird84
Wonder 0 Posted October 24, 2005 It's just that OT-65 is of czech manufacture and I'm not sure if it was used by the soviets.

Reven 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Quote[/b] ]BITTORRENT!! I'll look into Bit Torrents - it might be useful for the all-in-one pack, especially since it'll be about 2GB big Quote[/b] ]How do you know it's being uploaded to FFUR.net? I pay for the hosting, and because I'm a cheap bugger it's got about 5GB a month. That's enough for text and a few images for the amount of traffic we get, but nowhere near enough for the full packs. We'd get about ten downloads before the bandwidth is exceeded. You'll notice I host the FFUR images on my own site - this is because I have a huge bandwidth allowance on it. Quote[/b] ]It's going to be uploaded to OFPfiles I can tell you that for sure! Yup, that's the first place I'm putting them. Expect the daily hits to quadrupal. Quote[/b] ]its being posted on file front cause thats where all the others were first put and the fact that Reven is a member of it i think I was the site admin on OFPFiles for about half a year. Because of schoolwork I now just post FFUR stuff and the odd other important news. Quote[/b] ]Yeh, after about 20 seconds of "investigating", I realised it would be uploaded to Filefront So, if someone can find who-evers-uploading-it's My-Files thing where it'll be hosted till it's submitted to the actual publicly-listed thing............ The packs are currently on my own FileFront webspace, which is password protected. After that it will be transferred to one of the OFPFiles FTP servers, then onto the actual site. You can look for my webspace if you want, but even if you find it you'll need a password to get into it. For those asking if it'd be better for a staggared release - OFPFiles can handle much more than that. It's on the same network as HL2Files and BF2Files, which receive tens of thousands of downloads each day. Dispite all this, FileFront is still able to dish out roughly 1MB/sec to each user. If you have a Fastpass, you'll probably get it at the maximum speed your connection can handle (depending on the Fastpass server load).
456820 0 Posted October 24, 2005 i dont get download speeds i got a 2mb connection but i only get about 256KBPS which isnt alot is it ? or is that how much i can handle im not great about file sixes and how mank KB go into a MB so it may be a dumb question
Cpt Viper 0 Posted October 24, 2005 I think because you have a 2 mb internet connection, 256 kb/s is the right download speed you have. Well, think it this way: The pack is 2000 MB big. Your download speed is 0.256 mb/s. 2000 : 0.256 = 7812.5 seconds. = about 130 minutes. 130 mins = 2 hours and 10 minutes. And of course, 130 minutes is when it is downloading at full speed. *Dances around room for having a 10 MB internet connection* 2000 : 1.5 = 1333.33 1333.33 : 60 = 22.21 minutes !!! *Fiercely hopes OFP.info will host the 2 GB file, as Viper can download at full speed there* - Viper

ISPs commonly sell their products hoping people will think it's 2MB/sec, which is 2 megabytes. A baud/bit is an 8th of a byte, so generally your download speed in bytes will be an eighth of the speed in bauds. 2Mb/sec should deliver around 256kB/sec. Kyle_K_ski 1 Posted October 24, 2005 TB, I'm happy to hear that you're seriously considering integrating the "rally around the leader" formation in a future config pack! As far as I can tell, currently the troops will only rally around the player, which is definately a bonus, but it'd be even nicer if when they're assigned to smaller units the AI would also rally around their own immediate "leader." I'll also post this suggestion at the mod's creator's development thread. Kyle

Soldier91 0 Posted October 24, 2005 The release seems really close! Can't wait FFUR. This morning I thought of a cool Flash Video Idea for anyone who wants to give a shot at it. The whole plot is sort of like Lord of the Rings. All the members who post in here frequently could be in it. So anyways they're in search for FFUR which is inside mount doom (if you've seen LOTOR you should know mt doom) Or maybe like a Star wars and Thunderbird is Yoda...."have patience young jedi, the release is close" Â Anyways I've rambled on to much but yeah i've seen flash videos about big releases in other forums so it would be cool to do for this one...maybe... Good luck on getting everything finished FFUR! Soldier out. Â

Thunderbird 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Some useful information before the release : Once the stuff is released , please make sure you read everything to avoid some "useless" questions like "how do I create a shortcut to play the ffurasian crisis" ?... We included a bunch of detailed readmes and .txt explaining everything about each concerned pack. We have also included in each folder the "llauma" sky [intended only to people who have Fifth Generation Graphics Card (eg. GeForce 5 Series or Radeon 9 series)] as well. you will find a small installer incorporated in the FFUR 2005 folder which has as an objective to install the russian flag instead of the soviet one without overwriting it. [...that means you'll play BIS campaigns and missions not with the old soviet flag but with the new of the Russian Federation] you will also find another installer included in the FFUR Asian Crisis folder which has as an objective to install the Asian faces instead of BIS ones without overwriting them, this small installer does install also the japanese and chinese flags without overwriting the BIS ones, though. [...this means you will be able to play the BIS campaigns and missions not with US/soviet flags but with Japanese/chinese ones]. um :::> and for people who haven't seen it : Make sure you deleted all previous FFUR stuff from your Operation Flashpoint folders , and even from your comps Best Regards Thunderbird84
chipper 0 Posted October 24, 2005 Ok I'm convinced the release is very soon now. Considering Tb updated his sig! Kind of disapointed when I clicked it to see no release but it will be "soon".

Ironsight 1 Posted October 25, 2005 this sounds so awseome i so cant wait for this are you going to give us an eta or will it be a suprisecant wait though Do you really find is necessary to ask 10 times a day when it's done? It's done when it's done you only have to wait for a download link to appear... wilson099, do you really think posts like these are necessary? Quote[/b] ] Quote[/b] ]Yay, hey, yo BTW: Weren't you the guy who was selling that OFP mod CD on Ebay? Don't feel offended or accused it's just a question since the guy who was offering it had the same nickname on Ebay IIRC.
wilson099 0 Posted October 25, 2005 Yes, however i immediately stopped after receiving some rather nasty hate mail The idea was to allow people with slow connections 56k to gain access to vast amounts of downloads without having to wait for hours and hours to download. Imagine having to download 700mb file with a 56k modem... Fileplanet, filefront etc etc do the same and charge for "fastpass" etc or buying a cd with just one large file on it. I sold 2...............
pandalefou 0 Posted October 25, 2005 It started of an good intention but... To make money with that... The FFUR Team should buy it themself
