Katzelowski 0 Posted July 8, 2005 Well, hi there! It has been about two years ago since I played OFP for the last time. I'll give you a short summary what I did since then... After I quit OFP I turned over to BF42. This game is great fun, but isn't very realistic, so I started modding for the "ForgottenHope" team. (http://forgottenhope.bf1942files.com/index.php?flash=yes) This mod made BF42 realistic and added a mess of features. But for some reason the BF42 community isn't very consistend, so I also quot BF... And turned over to World of Warcraft. It was great fun too, but it has also been the worst mistake of my whole gaming "career". Therefore, I canceled my WoW account a few days ago. I thought "What could you play now... Maybe some old games that were a delight. Half Life, Baldurs Gate 2, Day of Defeat.... Well.... OPERATION FLASHPOINT!" So I decided to play through all three campaigns a second time ( actually I've never done resistance completely because I spend too much time in testing addons ). For this reason, I made a little researc about the actual state of OFP, and I was impressed. So much news, ofp.info still alive. What the hell, that's impressive. From that moment on, I realized that OFP has a very, very, very special community. I went through this Forums, looked for new addons etc. but it is really weired. There's sooo much stuff out there, no idea where to start. So I ask you. I've got a few questions about how I can enrich my singleplayer experience ( 1985, RedHammer, Resistance ). I saw dxdll mod, but I can't get it work, my game keeps on crashing. Specs: GF 4 Ti 4800 SE512 DDR P4 2,6 GHZ Installed new skys ( llauma or so ) works great! Tried out FFUR 5.0 - keeps crashing the game for some reason...Can't get 3.5 down... Found EECP. No Idea what it does? When will it be released? What's the difference to FFUR? Which one is better? What about IV44? Is it dead? Any new ground textures or so? How can I improve my graphics? (Except of DXDLL, LLAUMA, FFUR) Any other must have addons / mods / campaigns / important stuff that happend since then? You know, I need a small summary of the last two years ! I hope that you understand what I mean. I'm just one OFP crazy guy who found his way back to his favourite game. Thanks! Edit 1: Oh, I just remember VBS 1. What about it? Jyka 0 Posted July 8, 2005 Welcome back! First of all, what was major problem with WoW, I´ve thought of giving it a shot with free trial? To answer your question what to try in OFP; being a finn myself I have to recommend Finnish Defence Forces mod(FDF). Boys did hell of a job with that and it includes a single player campaign, give it a try, I think you won´t be dissapointed.
Katzelowski 0 Posted July 8, 2005 Thank's, I'll try it out! In WoW there are too many hardcore gamers. I can't and I don't want to compete with them. When a clanmate of me said "You don't play enoug, you didn't understand the sense of the game!" I answered "No, you didn't understand the sense of life!" and from that moment on I quit playing WoW. I love multiplayer games, but I want a game without "having" to play. I want to play when I want, as long as I want and quit when I want. Singleplayer offers you these possibilities. I think I'm never gonna join a clan again... Oh, still one thing to add :P. I cant see the book of the mission briefings anymore, and believe me, not knowing what to do... sucks, really sucks. HEEELLLPPP MEEE !!
jens198 0 Posted July 8, 2005 [*]Tried out FFUR 5.0 - keeps crashing the game for some reason...Can't get 3.5 down... BTW, I installed 5.0 a few days ago from fileplanet and I works fine for me (used a clean OFP install). Is this one officially released now or not?
hardrock 1 Posted July 8, 2005 I love multiplayer games, but I want a game without "having" to play. I want to play when I want, as long as I want and quit when I want. Singleplayer offers you these possibilities. I think I'm never gonna join a clan again... That's correct, but OFP can be a lot of fun in multiplayer, even more than SP. Since I started playing in MP I never touched any SP mission or campaign anymore, since it's simply too boring. If you join serious coop games it makes a great experience. For that try the Zeus or CiA server, they don't require you to be uberskilled as long as you bring a bit of team spirit with you. For multiplayer (and also in general! I highly request you to get the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) Mod, which is the biggest mod so far IMO as it adds a lot (! of new features and improves the civilian side of OFP a lot. It also comes with several islands. FDF Mod Quote[/b] ]Oh, still one thing to add :P. I cant see the book of the mission briefings anymore, and believe me, not knowing what to do... sucks, really sucks. HEEELLLPPP MEEE !! I guess you hid it by accident. Reset that by opening up your userinfo.cfg (to be found in %flashpoint_root%/users/%username%/userinfo.cfg) and find the class MainMap. In it there should be a class Notepad, which contains an entry position[]. Alter the first two entries in this position array to somewhat reasonable values (no negative values, smaller than 0.5). For example in my userinfo.cfg: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">class MainMap { [...] class Notepad { inBack=0; position[]={0.067316,0.027576,0.320000}; positionBack[]={-0.325000,0.194918,0.800000}; }; [...] };
Katzelowski 0 Posted July 8, 2005 Thanks a lot. I just want to play through SP because I want to "get into the game" again. Not playing for 2 years is a really great loose of skill . I thought that there aren't many multiplayer servers out there anymore, but I'll definetely give it a try. I love tactical gaming, I always hated public servers, e.g. in DoD / CS, where everybody does what he thinks is right. I believe that the OFP community is way more cooperative and has a higher niveau! But you didn't answer my most important question yet ! How can I improve OFP SP? DXDLL, LLAUMA, EECP, FFUR etc. things i forgot / don't know!

Warden 0 Posted July 8, 2005 Nice to see someone coming back! I had probs with FFur too, i had the same Graphics card as you but when i changed it the problems went away. Doesnt make any sense but it worked.!" There are new texture packs out for the islands, also MApfact has released an new nogova, dont know if the capaign works on it but its amazing. there is a thread in mods complete called new to opflash or something like that it has loads of mods that make OFP lok ace! Not to dig at you, but loads of new aircraft and maps do not make a realistic game thats what XWWII is for! Still love Fh though!
Taconic 0 Posted July 8, 2005 [*]Found EECP. No Idea what it does? When will it be released? What's the difference to FFUR? Which one is better? It improves effects, improves realism, and replaces the BIS units with better ones. EECP has been released for over a year. The current public version is 0.44 and you can download it from the thread or ofp.info. I'm currently working on a huge update that will be released shortly. The biggest difference between EECP and FFUR is that EECP puts more emphasis on realism. FFUR also has a completely different suite of effects.
EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Hey, welcome back, try out Y2K3 7.0 - download the patch's 7.1 and 7.2 after geting full install of 7.0, then try out EECP and the new FFur pack when they are released, SOON! SOON!!!!!
blackdog~ 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Specs: GF 4 Ti 4800 SE 512 DDR P4 2,6 GHZ I had these exact same specs a while ago when using DXDLL. It lagged like shit when I had reflective water turned on. Edit: But it did work.
Katzelowski 0 Posted July 9, 2005 Thanks everybody! I'm looking forward to EECP, I think it'll be great. Sadly I can't effort enough money to buy a new GC but I'll buy a completely new machine when the time has come. 7800 GTX etc. you know ! Maybe when AA is released, we'll see. Until then I'll have to play without DXDLL but that isn't that bad isn't it? Oh, and believe me. FH > XWWII. Nobody played XWWII and in my opinion ( since I am / was a mod member of FH ) FH is more realistic than BF42 retail. I voted internal for FH being 100% realism, but nobody else wanted that... PS: Any more exact ETA for EECP? You may PM me, I am a mod member and beta tester, believe me, I won't leak anything!
miles teg 1 Posted July 9, 2005 Your best bet is to go to www.ofp.info and take a look at their archives. Start from the latest archives and then work your way backwards downloading stuff that looks interesting to you. In addition, I recommend that you download from ofp.info the version 1.96 Beta patch rather then the full 1.96 patch. The Beta patch is the same and it doesn't require you to leave your CD in the drive. Also I HIGHLY recommend that you make seperate mod folders to keep different types of addons seperate so as not to hog up your memory. For example put all the WWII mods into a WWII mod folder. Basically make folder called something like WWIIMod. Stick this folder inside your main Operation Flashpoint directory. Inside that WWIIMod folder make another folder called "addons" Stick the all of your WWII .pbo addon files into that Operation Flashpoint/WWIIMod/addons directory. On the desktop then make a shortcut to that folder with the following under the shortcut properties/target: "C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTBETA.EXE" -nosplash -mod=WWIIMOD Use the flashpointbeta.exe above only if you are using version 1.96 Beta. Otherwise replace that above with the regular Flashpoint Resistance.exe file if you don't mind keeping the CD in your drive. Also on the short cut, under its properties/start in section put: "C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint" Of coarse if your OFP directory is different modify the above to fit whereever you have Operation Flashpoint installed. For different mods simply to the same and change the name of the MOD on the new mod folder's short properties like: "C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTBETA.EXE" -nosplash -mod=VietnamMOD I hope that helps...also be sure to try out my mod team's addon packs, The Lost Brothers Addon pack #1 and #2 also on OFP.info...however if you wait a few weeks, we will have a nice complete Addon pack #3 and a new improved Sinai map. We also just released that Arab Insurgent/Arab Civilian pack if you want to make some modern Middle East missions. Happy Gaming!!!
