First Development Tool in February!

Recommended Posts

Got this eMail from Marek Spanel:

Dear Michael,

it not true we must say or do anything. But we have big respect to the community that has formed around Operation Flashpoint so I hope the following information will help people to feel more positive about the game and future of MOD making for it:

1) Whole Flashpoint world was designed using two tools: Oxygen for 3D modeling and Visitor for landscape editing. Both tools will be released but first Oxygen, later Visitor (currently, it's not even in the english language - all is in czech).

2) We're working hard to give a version of Oxygen to the public as soon as possible. I can't guarantee any exact date but I can promiss I'll do maximum to allow that Oxygen will be available to the community before the end of February. Visitor will follow later (probably around May/June time),

3) It may be benefecial for ambitious MOD makers to know that Oxygen is capable to import 3DS Max files including texture maping information.

Best regards

Marek

All I can say is kudos to BIS. Finally someone read the posts and figured out that the community was turning itself upside down over the object editing issue. Now we can get on to another subject of interest, such as ideas for you modelers out there, since we know what format to make files.

Holy shit !

I  thought at the most BIS might release weapon mod tools, but LANDSCAPE tools as well !?!?

I know jack about modding, but the potential for the OFP community is real sweet.

@ Satchel - Any news on the Sound MOD ? The first one was great.

BIS, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I can't mod jack either, but I have been waiting FOREVER for a realistic, high-quality, high-end graphic ww2 ground combat sim. Everyone has been waiting for such a sim and, amazingly, it is the one game that no one has built yet. The invasion1944 mod looks to already be well on its way and I just saw an Eastern Front mod starting up the other day. This is the best damned news I've heard all year. Again, thank you for being such a great bunch of guys who appreciate your supporting community.
