Silent Hill :The Last Dark

Well i felt like it was my duty to report this intresting orignal OFP mod.

MC Studio started working on their new project - Silent Hill: The Last Dark. They have only recently started this project and bigger part of the job is still ahead of them. Here are several features of their project:

# Monsters

# New animations

# New sounds and voice actors

# A lot of buildings with interiors

# Several authentic Silent Hill locations

# Possible engine improvements

Their team currently needs a modeller, so if you're interested please contact MYSKA2005@list.ru and SAMmy_2004@list.ru.

Hope they manage to get it of the ground and make somthing of it! What intrested me was "Possible engine improvments" maybe theyre going to try and improve OFPs handeling of indoor enviroments biggrin_o.gif

I wonder how they are going to handle the 'monsters' indoor. Looks quite impossible to do. crazy_o.gif

I think your asking for of OFP in this mod than the OFP engine can provide. sad_o.gif

I hope they make the textures a bit higher-res. they look a bit... blurry.

I place my hopes in the Aras engine smile_o.gif

02 tends to blur my textures, then I put them ingame and they look fine.

I can't pull myself to play Silent Hill 3...I'm still at the damn mall crazy_o.gif

Hmmm wonder how the mod well work, its probably better off on a diffrent engine though sad_o.gif

But dosn't hurt to try tounge_o.gif

02 tends to blur my textures, then I put them ingame and they look fine.

Open flashpoint.cfg in your buldozer directory and switch all textures to 1024x1024 or bigger, they look the same as ingame now smile_o.gif

That looks interesting... i'm a big fan of Silent Hill. But you're gonna have to do massive work to do something similar in OFP.

I guess you dont want to do it 90% insides like Silent Hill, but try to use the OFP engine in exteriors a lot more ?

[edit] i've just realised D.murphy man is not the author but is reporting what he saw on OFP.INFO. anyone knows if these guys might read this forum someday ?

Why not just get.. silent hill...

I mean excuse me for apparently missing the point but this idea of taking games out of engines they were designed for and work perfectly in, and putting them in OFP which lacks bump mapping etc, and (from those screens) the kind of dark which adds atmosphere... I'm not sure why you'd want to do that.

We should all know by now, there are no engine updates. There are only work arounds, and these are compromises. Like all compromises you can tell they're not perfect.

Seems like people make these things just to point out the weakenesses of the OFP engine by giving it tasks it does very poorly in. sad_o.gif

OFP offers freedom

silent hill + freedom is twice as cool?

I have my doubts it'l work well, but lets wait and see what kind of buildings this produces smile_o.gif . above that, some good zombies never seace to amuse me.

sh the room was solid , i rented it then just gave up when the ghosts come in your room :S

Wonder what sort of poly count the coridors are..

I think the biggest problem with this mod is that AI dont really like buildings at all. But if the corridors are wide, and well LODed, it shouldn't be to much of a problem, if they have decent waypoints

Mod could be very.. different biggrin_o.gif
