Holes in world - graphics gone mad

Recommended Posts

Hey, i recently got a new computer which is a peach but i have a problem. When im playing Operation Flashpoint (only OFP - typical), it will sometimes randomly load the wrong textures onto a model, another problem with it is I will get large 'holes' in my world. It is really frustrating, i have anti-aliasing turned off (yep, OFF!). Anyone know why and how it can be resolved? Thanks...

Here is a shot of what it does, i could be driving along in a jeep on everon and it would happen:

Oh, and my new specs:

Windas XP SP2

AMD Athlon 64 3000 (2ghz+)

512 MB DDR RAM

nVidia Geforce 6800 LE 128 Mb

160 GB HDD

Flashpoint specs:

Hardware T&L on

Multitexturing On (does it with off aswell)

View distance <1000

Terrain Detail normal

I have the latest drivers, have tried reinstalling the card, reinstalling the game, checked my video aperture size, boosted my virtual memory.

Thanks

Try this ...

Start / Run / dxdiag

Check your running 9.0c

check for any error messages

it certainly looks like a dx error from the screen shots .

What do you mean by 'latest' drivers? 71.84 has been crappy, and I'm loath to try 71.89. Frankly I had to go back to the oldest 6x series that would support my 6600gt in order to get the stability I wanted.

..this may seem a bit obvious, but have you tried running without DXDLL? rock.gif

Yes.

I reinstalled it and ran without addons - version 1 - still buggered... version 1.75 - still buggered... version 1.96 - still buggered. You get the picture?! biggrin_o.gif

6x series drivers made no difference. sad_o.gif

I think i may be getting my own computer in a few months, but until then... crazy_o.gif

Oh, and thanks Sanctuary for the link. wink_o.gif

Just one thing, has OFP ever ran properly on your new PC?

Well, it used to do the bug rarely, and only on larger maps (tonali) now it does it all of the time, even as a man on desert island.

Are you overclocking your video card? I notice you say 6800 LE. Have you tried OEM video drivers because your card may run at a specific speed that isn't the same as other LE's.(you didn't say what brand your video card was)

Running something that opened up pipelines on the card?

I would try underclocking the videocard,if that fixes it,its possible that the video card has bad chips

What are OEM video drivers? Are they generic drivers for certain chipset?

Its an nVidia Geforce 6800 LE.

I don't know how to overclock/underclock my card...

OEM: Original equiptment Manufacturer

ie: The company that made your card

The chipset of your card is Nvidia ,but I doubt its a Nvidia card (could be tho)

Sometimes you have to use OEM drivers if your card is different

Mines a xFx 6800,and I use the generic drivers from the Nvidia website

To over/under clock, use the Coolbits registry patch
