Muzzle flash in shadow, but not for all lods...

Hello there,

It may sound like the old muzzle flash in shadow problem, but my problem is a bit different. I've got 3 lods casting shadow in my models :

1.5 : 89 faces

5.0 : 22 faces

9.0 : 12 faces

I did configed the model in cfgmodel properly (otherwise the muzzle flash would be visible on the weapon), all the faces of all the muzzle flashes in all lods are marked "no shadow"...

But as you can see from this shot, it appears that lod 1.5 is showing the muzzle flash in the shadow, while the lower lods are doing it properly...

I tried binarizing it, i tried yelling at it, i even replaced the custom muzzle flash i'm uzing by BIS' old muzzle flash... what the heck am i doing wrong ? the quick fix would be to disable the shadow on lod 1.5 but then i would only get the low lod crappy shadow...

Any ideas ?

The 'enable shadow' tick box enables shading on the polygons,

not the shadow for the unit, I think.

Are the 'flash polygons' defined as 'zasleh' in the 1.5 lod?

yep, and i double checked right now just to be sure... all selections are ok...

nevermind, the problem seems to have fixed itself... i carried on my work o something else, then changed the muzzle flash to a new custom one when i noticed it didnt cast it in the shadow anymore rock.gif

I've seen this on old addons that I reconfigured the models to fix the muzzle flash. Flash was gone but a shadow of it was on the ground...go figure.

Select the muzzle flash, hit 'E' for face properties, deselect "enable shadow".
