What do you play Ofp with?

Recommended Posts

I'm tempted to buy a Pentium M as it has the best CPU grunt around for Operation Flashpoint and is a brilliant performer all round, an excellent, quiet CPU that can be thermally cooled if need be. Now, do i purchase one or not. crazy_o.gif

Also, regarding AGP Aperture settings, my Aperture is set to 128MB and X8 on my GeForce 6600GT 128MB but i was reading on page ten about the supposed speed increased if i lower the Aperture to X4. I know in real world games it doesn't make a huge margin of difference but i'm thinking about trying to squeeze as much power out of my system as possible. My specifications are also on page 10. smile_o.gif

That one costed him ~$2700

I played on:

Celeron 1.7 Ghz, 512 MB, Radeon 9550 (GF4 MX before)

Now I am crying on:

Celeron Mobile 1Ghz, 128MB, some Mobile Intel Graphics Card (well, i rather look on scripts then play on it)

Soon I will have

AMD 64kbit 3000+, 1,5GB, Radeon 9550 (when ArmA come, I will buy better graphics card)

SONY Vaio VGN-A397XP

Intel Pentium M 760 @2Ghz

512mb RAM

80GB HD SATA

17" LCD (WUXGA)

ATI Mobility X600 128MB PCI-X

Dublelayer DVD (Plus minus tounge2.gif) RW

Have OFP in resoulution 1920-1200 with 2500m view dist.

10 squads/side=NO LAG!!!

nener.gif

Thats a good one.

So what were your OFP graphics settings?

AA or AF was it on?

No one , even ones with top of the line PC's can play OFP lag free with 10 squads on the map. OFP's graphic rendering is simply too unstable for some reason to allow a enjoyable total consistently lag free gameplay.

Well, planning on an upgrade.

I'll start with 512 MB ram and "only" a 3200+, but a better GFX, since they are the most expensive parts.

Anyways, here's the list.

500W silent PSU

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 640KB Cache

512MB PC3200 @ 400 Mhz (to overclock tounge2.gif)

Asus GeForce 6600gt/TD 256MB (EN6600GT/HTD/256M)*

A silent (15db) case fan, and a ramcooler from Coolermaster

This lands at about €500(euro), so I'll need to save a month or two (or might get some money from my parents tounge2.gif)

*GFX specification:

Quote[/b] ]• Graphics Engine: GeForce 6600GT

• Video Memory: 256 M DDR3

• Engine Clock: 500MHz

• Memory Clock: 1GHz (500MHz DDR3)

• RAMDAC: 400MHz

• Bus Standard: PCI-Express

• Memory Interface: 128-bit

• Max Resolution: 2048x1536

Does this seem good?

Regards

JW

6600 is a excellent card when it comes to OFP. But most DX9 games (like BF2, COD2, DOOM3) won't run too good (Talking out of my own experience).

Yes, it's a DX9 game.

And I think it would be worth to wait until ArmA goes gold and then look for a decent DX9 card, since the prices will drop every month. At least that's what I will do.

How do I know if the card's a DX9 card then?

@Ti0n3r:

Damn, didn't say anything at the shops homepage.

The 6600GT I'm planning on buying here is a DX9 card. At least the 128MB version, cause the 256MB isn't even listed on their homepage...

@The-Architect:

Yes, that is a good computer. Of course could be better, but it's not bad.

What GFX do you have?

Mine:

3.91 GHz (OC'd, obviously icon_rolleyes.gif ) Intel HT P4 (only 7000 benchmark, but this is because I'm using AI-NOS, and thus OFP's checking system only detects the CPU at low loadages = 3.4GHz).

2048MB Corsair 533 DDR2 RAM.

256MB DDR3 (OC'd again) ASUS (NVidia) 6800GTO - soon to be a 512MB DDR3 ASUS (NVidia) 7900GTX.

Samsung DVD-RW.

10000rpm 40GB Western Digital SATA Raptor (NTFS)

ASUS P5AD2E Deluxe Motherboard.

Thermaltake Soprano.

430W PSU.

biggrin_o.gif Beat that!

-EDIT- Waits for Jackal or someone else to smite him.

Seems fine. As far as Samsung goes as a brand, I've got a DVD-RW of theirs, and it runs fine.

I went straight to the top with my HD though, and got a small but blindingly quick one.
