What happens when you use first person view while in a vehicle with the mask on?  icon_rolleyes.gif  One of OFP's most annoying bugs, have you adressed it?

You won't see the mask on the first person view, don't worry. wink_o.gif

We're not going to keep those weapons. I just used them to make the pictures look better. icon_rolleyes.gif But who knows, maybe we change our mind and keep those weapons?

Maybe just a few of them, if you get the green light for extracting them?

Looking very good, can't wait for the full release wink_o.gif

So does that mean you found a proper way to fix this problem, or did you compromise and get rid of any inward facing faces?  icon_rolleyes.gif  If not the latter then please tell me what it is that you've done.

Quite simple really, when your inside a vehicle the mask is off wink_o.gif

I see, more compromise... A mask is one thing, but other things you need to wear even if you are in a vehicle - helmets for example, and you can't allways make all of the faces facing away from the camera.  confused_o.gif

You misinterpreted my post. I'm not complaining about anything, rather I was hoping that they had found a decent way to fix a certain bug, but infact they had not. Do I not have a right to be dissapointed? Well, probably shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, didn't really expect anything too much. There's nothing wrong at all with this addon, I think it's great. I'm dissapointed because the fact that they had not found a new way around that bug wasn't the good news I was hoping for. Understand now?

So please stop making accusations and such remarks under false pretenses. It's misunderstandings like these that cause really nasty situations... Please. Still, I don't see how one can interpret that as bitching, I just wanted to know something - no sarcasm meant at all - this is after all the internet and the presence of sarcasm should never be assumed unless stated.

Please, next time, don't assume that. I've been wrongly accused too many times and it allways ends up very bad for me... I beg you. huh.gif

I think Kyle Sarnik just overused the rolleyes smilie a bit and some got it wrong... a real science sometimes to use the right smilies.

He takes his reputation here on the boards pretty serious i noticed talking to him and his last post also shows that.

Anyway, enough of such stuff, we better discuss the units and not who uses what type of smilies.

If I nitpick, I ususally offer something good to say as well...I dont get offended by an addon not meeting my needs and then rolling my eyes until I'm happy with it.

But whatever...back on topic. My appologies.

Who the hell said I was offended by the addon? For the last time, I got my hopes up for something that never happened, thats it. Stop making false accusations - I allready told you this. If you don't like the eyerolling smiley then fine, but don't translate it directly into an offensive statement. It's just a smiley, it doesn't mean anything... I was asking questions about how they dealt with the bug hoping to learn something, but I didn't. Why does that seem like a complaint?

Anyways, I hope someone eventualy finds a way to deal with that bug without having to make compromises in the model - this bug has been a real pain for me.

If you do find a way, please share it...

I'd like to take a moment to let some people know what they can expect from V.2 of the NBC troops (items in bold italics have yet to be confirmed):

2 new NBC troop skins (urban and black-camo)

A new mask script that means you can only use the NBC equipment if you have it in your inventory

Scripted Gas which can only be crossed wearing a gas mask

Soviet NBC troops

Updated Civilians to use the new Gasmask scripts

A scripted Latern (this may be moved to the civilain pack)

A scripted Torch weapon

I tried this exact same thing, using a binocular slot, on some HYK units that I stuck NBC masks on. I got great results (though the inventory space is a little limitted and if you wanted the fold down/up NVG's then there'd be no room for binoculars), and have been waiting for someone to pick up on this.  thumbs-up.gif

A few questions, will you use a mask model for the weapon item, or a mask pouch? If so, and this is what I did, will you have a pouch on the unit that disappears when the weapon isn't present, sort of an indicator to other people that the unit has/does not have a mask (If not, then consider this a suggestion/request/idea, I'd really like to see something like this if you've got the time/will to do it)?

Right now, there is no pouch to show if the player has an NBC mask or not, however, we may put it in, before we do that however, I want to get all the current addons brought up to date with the new NBC scripts

(so that civilians can use masks, if they can find them)

Just a reminder to you guys that you can be really cool and make your NBC guys compatible with our NBC scuds!

I can't remember the command off the top of my head, but it's buried somewhere in the depth of our forum and news posts.

Just a suggestion.

I wish there was a way to add gasmasks to any unit without p3D editing. Would make life easier for me - anyone else tried adding gasmasks to ALL the units in the game? crazy_o.gif

The only way to do it is with a proxy, but unfortunately the only candidate (NVG proxy) won't allow us to switch it's model. confused_o.gif

Here is something else to think about: If you make it using a mod-folder, how are you going to prevent it from replacing the NVGs on non-gasmask-wearing units? wink_o.gif

Yea it's a compromise, since you can't add new models that can be used in that proxy, you'll have to replace the NVG model and so you'd effectively be turning all NVGs into gasmasks (and then it's also impossible to detect when they are and aren't wearing the masks - defeating the whole purpose). confused_o.gif
