Guest Posted January 21, 2005 Well, VBS is actually pretty accurate on the colors... I made the same mistake before, totally relying on one picture to base my textures from, but when I took a look on the VBS screenshots, I asked myself why their digital camo was different from mine. So I did a little research and came up with other pictures and I learned a thing or two (although obvious, I never thought about it when it came to texturing). As you can see in the back ground of your reference picture, it is mostly red (due to either the lighting or the camera).. This can also be seen here: [ig]http://www.usmc.mil/marinelink/image1.nsf/ae82f18a8e1b160b852568ba007e7e5e/03ee022ac2d4c89185256f6d0080bbeb/$FILE/041217-M-8458L-001low.jpg[/img] [im]http://www.usmc.mil/marinelink/image1.nsf/ae82f18a8e1b160b852568ba007e7e5e/244478c03c78925185256f6d0080eeac/$FILE/041217-M-8458L-002low.jpg[/img] They are the same uniform except the different lighting makes them look different from the actual thing. So now, when I texture, I look for a reliable photo with whiteish lighting.. mostly outside photos on a white-semi-cloudy day.. This photo is good for a color reference [ig]http://www.usmc.mil/marinelink/image1.nsf/ae82f18a8e1b160b852568ba007e7e5e/a9dd0de863b2d39f85256f66006d5a69/$FILE/Melendez_lowres.jpg[/img] If I helped you, glad I could help.. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them.. Good luck with your addon! this is because the first 2 pics are taken indoor under halogen lights. the other outdoor with normal day light. halogen produces a different heat wich improves the "yellow" on pics taken. unless you use the right film. ThePara 0 Posted January 22, 2005 Awesome! They look really cool. Glad you took off those big backpacks also. Can't wait! Are these just independent units or do you have them set into groups like the original Marines with Machine Gunners and such?
miles teg 1 Posted January 22, 2005 I hope there will still be some with the backpacks. On long range patrols they are worn. Even in Iraq, I've seen some combat patrols with small rucksacks. They are useful for carrying extra ammo like SMAW rocket reloads and M203 grenades if you have any support vehicles near you or the suport vehicles can't go in the areas your unit is moving through either because of terrain or due to the RPG threat level. It would be nice to have different groups including a set with backpacks of both woodland and desert units...and then groups without the backpacks. Wilco 944 Posted January 22, 2005 Took all of the MOLLE gear off, mainly because soldiers don't hump loads like that in combat, sorry guys. Release expected tommorow, Woodland Marines have been totally reworked model wise also.

CanadianTerror 0 Posted January 22, 2005 This won't overwrite the Suchey pack though will it?
Wilco 944 Posted January 22, 2005 Yeah, it will, mainly because I really don't feel like sitting there and rewriting the texture path for all 6-7 of his units, so sorry guys . Looks like I have to delay the release by a bit, one of my beta testers found a whole lotta things wrong with Suchey's units. Sorry guys.

It's ok man, just a tip, don't ever mention again when you want to release something (i.e. tomorrow it's finished, or next week), never promise or you'll get in trouble...
