denoir 0 Posted January 2, 2005 While I can't see the logo in that picture, it looks very much like a Citroën car design. Edit: Looks similar to this: - A 1960 Citroën 2CV (picture from Wikipedia) Edit 2: Yepp, that's it. Citroën 2CV Van
brgnorway 0 Posted January 2, 2005 Yes, it's a Citroën 2 CV based "bread van" . It didn't exist during WWII in any other form than two prototypes hidden from the germans in a barn. For your (if you are from non European countries) information the 2CV is what made ordinary people enjoy motoring in France - much in the same way the Fiat 500 enabled the italians to move about - and a bit later the germans and the VW Beetle. Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 2, 2005 Damn, I already though it was that one (I know at least one driving in my city with a matching trailer), but indeed the car-logo was different and I thought it couldn't be that one.

Apollo 0 Posted January 2, 2005 Quote[/b] ]That thing reminds me of old French comics. Maybe due to the speeding nun of "les Gandarme de Saint Tröpez" .
bonko the sane 2 Posted January 2, 2005 the last 2CV were made here in portugal, theres a huge mass of 2CV followers around these parts. I owned one (a van like that) in normandy, old and falling apart, but nothing can compare to doing 3 wheel turns with the car filled with a lot of people, or escaping from the gendarmes through cornfields, that thing is a regular jeep

Hahaha that sounds cold   Do you remember the sound of the engine. THAT is a sound you don't forget! Actually, a twin engined Sahara model (also slightly modified) is taking part in this years Paris-Dakar: Anyway, it's tragedy we hardly see cars like that anymore. Remember this: Oh, and the most beautyful car in the world - the DS: For the youngest forum members out there - keep in mind this car was made from 1955! ! ! ! blackdog~ 0 Posted January 3, 2005 That is a very nice car. I'm sure if the 2CV that I saw would be much nicer if it was spruced up but it's been sitting there for a long time. It is not in very bad shape at all though. I'd like to get a UAZ (whether it's a 69 or the nice civillian version) or a GAZ one of these days...

blackdog~ 0 Posted January 3, 2005 No it was a 2CV. That kind of looks like one WWII truck that I know of, I'll get a pic tommorow (today) as I have to sleep now.
ran 0 Posted January 3, 2005 You could still find 4L's at the Vente des domaines sales until very recently. I don't know if all the stocks have been sold yet though. (the vente des domaines is the name given to the sales of government goods such as former utility cars, office furniture and such) You can find decomissioned french military vehicles at the Ventes des domaines. I remember a large batch of tan 4L's and some old TRM's

By the way, the 2CV was designed with some rather specific criterias in mind: to transport the rural french farmer and his wife, a basket of eggs and a pig over the field. And from there on it was a succes!

Not a joke
