sasyboy 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Has anyone got any pictures of UK Bedford Army trucks I could go on? Current issue. I'm finding it hard to find pictures. Thanks in advance.
MontyVCB 0 Posted October 22, 2004 its becuase they are not used often anymore, our main 4 tonners now are the leyland models, the beddy wasn't even taken to iraq , and even they are due for replacement, Ford has offer to build a totaly new range of trucks for the british army, ranging from 4 tonners to 8X8s , if u want pics of bedford 4 tonners i would look for 'owners' clubs for military equipment

da12thMonkey 1943 Posted October 22, 2004 Yea, the Bedfords are on the way out, MAN vehicles have been selected to replace the British Army's truck fleet. Not to say you shouldn't make some though, they're good for past scenarios and I'd certainly like to see some.
Bazzer 0 Posted October 23, 2004 MAN vehicles have been selected to replace the British Army's truck fleet. Is there any proof in that? I.E. Any MOD press releases?
cbfasi 4 Posted October 24, 2004 A press release was sent to Janes..... and has appeared last week.
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted October 24, 2004 It's also on MAN ERF's British site and there are a couple of British newssites who are lamenting that the contract was lost by a British company (LDV) in favour of a German one.

tankieboy 0 Posted October 25, 2004 I would like to see a DAF or Beddy 8 ton.
Bazzer 0 Posted October 28, 2004 Ill drink to that. BTW: How long have the DAF's been in service for? I swear we have only recently brought them in...
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted October 28, 2004 IIRC we bought the Leyland/DAF DROPS around 1993 and the 4-tonne GS's around 1994-1995. The MAN vehicles aren't expected to start replacing the current truck fleet until around 2007 so there's a few years left in the Bedfords and DAFs.
