FINALLY!!! it looks good and we finally have another "world class" opfor force to fight against besides the russians biggrin_o.gif I hope the full version isn't too far away

WOW!!! That's all I can really say really, it was a surprise, a good one at that. Like DB-ERAU stated, a good OpFor, such great potential now. Such as a Chinese invasion of Siberia??? I got my Radeon 9800 just in time :-).

I spent about half an hour playing with the units. Overall, I'm pretty impressed by the quality - it's definately a solid addon pack. I haven't tried the missions, as there's WAY too many third-party addons used and they're all zipped, rared and aced, making it exceptionally confusing to locate, extract and install each one.

I installed these guys in my "Asia" folder, along with the JSDF and ROC mods. They all compliment each other well, especially these units and the JSDF.

My one complaint may be that the ZTZ99 is very effective at deterring direct fire ATGMs. I fired six TOW2As from the Combat! M3A2ODS and not a single one hit - in real life the ZTZ99 has an anti-missile capability, but it seems a bit too effective. Actually, now that I think about it, one or two did impact almost directly on the vehicle with no effect, but there is reactive armor on the turret and hull - maybe this is functional reactive armor? Some of the missiles just went nuts and flew everywhere and some seemed to impact with no result. Give it a try yourself and see what I mean.

Top attack weapons are effective, however. I fired three Javelins at the ZTZ99 in top-attack mode, one hit, one miss, one more hit to kill. I tried another top-attack ATGM that's not publicly available yet and it was successful in killing the ZTZ with one shot (with an excellent catastrophic explosion).

Overall, I'm very pleased with these guys. They're a great new OpFor for us, especially if you're a Sino-American War speculator (like me biggrin_o.gif). I look forward to seeing what else comes down the pipe from these guys.

about the  ZTZ99 MBT, i think there is one version which make to balance with the BOH type 90 MBT in the early beta release b4(as that thing is just wayyyyy too powerful), also i remember that they have made a script to simulate morden tank defence systems, dunno if they made it into this demo(still D/L ing)

EDIT: ok the ztz99 DID have that script, most missile are seen as laser guide and hance the laser suppressing is active, missile gone nuts and fly away, i fired 2 hellfire on it and the first one missed the target, yet after trying it i found it is quite a fair match, just remember to keep the script busy and put enought missile/ammo on them then you could manage to destroy it

Textures on the vehicles look very good. Already downloaded the pack (took me as long as six minutes, damn this pack is large).

Trying it out now. It's nice to see a chinese mod here. Just like the Japanese (BOH) the chinese have their own set of vehicles which are different from the rest of the world. This make sthem a unigue fighting force and a nice add to OFP. And the quality is great.

Which third party addons have been used any list?

I dont wanna re d/ld since i nearly have most of the famous and some unfamous OFP stuff already amounting to 4 GBs on me HDD smile_o.gif

Can anyone therefore whos got the pack put up a list and also put up the missions/campaigns separately as a d/ld.

Very good job PLA mod! I have been waiting this for a long time. Only thing that bothers me is the sounds from the tank cannons and other vehicle weapons.

Those sounds are actually quite good IMO. Only the 25mm cannon sounds is wierd.

The sound of the assault rifle is what bothers me. It's a BIS sound if I'm correct and is really bad compared to better sounds included in FDF and JAM for example.

The textures on the tanks are very good.

Few bugs;

-on the trucks and jeep the Driverproxy is not included in the Fire GEO. This way they can't be killed. I haven't checked cargo proxies.

-If the player is the gunner on the AAA gun (static), the anim doesn't work and the player is in a really wierd position.

I like the vehicles, they need a bit of polishing but it's nice to see new equpment like this. smile_o.gif

The soldiers on the other hand havent changed much since the last beta. The uniform and blood textures are pretty 1.46 and the weapon sounds arent very exciting.

Still good OPFOR none the less.

yes, there is. It changes the brown in the 3-dolour desert uniform to more dark-brown (it was a little too orange). And it tweaks the woodland camo a bit, too.

I like these Chinese units as they give a differant twist to the normal Russian Opfor. smile_o.gif

I would advise using the ROC mods PLA soldiers with this PLA demo armour/vehicles.

ROC's soldiers are just a lot more polished and you have marines as well.

Correct. There will be a silened and grenadelauncher version of the bullpup assault rifle. A look inside the config-file gives you a very interesting info.

Nice textures, and always good having a new set of OPFOR assets to blow up , but I've come across a few bugs...

The mortar has no firing sound, the VAB-like APC (sorry very confusing names lol) took 3 105mm shells to destroy (the lighter of the 2 tanks in the pack), the anims for the AAA and mortar are a bit dodgy and ill fitting, the lighter of the 2 tanks doesn't have turret servo sound effect,and not so much bugs, but there could be some improvements, as stated by others, the sounds could use some modernising, the textures on the infantry are very basic, the sights for the weapons (both vehicle and infantry weapons) could be remade as they all use BIS sights (mostly)... I had a good time playing with all these units though, good job so far smile_o.gif

The sounds on the main assault rifle can easily be changes, since there are other sounds in the weapon folder.

The config-file can be found in the PAS_PLA_Addons.pbo.

Just find the weapon's line

After changing the config file, save it and re-pbo the file. I think it's speaks for itself that you should make backups first, though.

These sounds are way better than the default sounds. They are .Wav, though. So they can cause some performance issues on slower rigs. Hope this helps you to enjoy these units even more. smile_o.gif
