der bastler 0 Posted August 26, 2004 Regarding my collection of game mags... Nearly forgot to mention, last but not least: PC Review --with 3.5" game demo floppy and high-quality paper, now gone(?)
mr burns 131 Posted August 26, 2004 i always liked bestseller games, was a crappy pearl magazine but it had some classic games as full version. got monkey island 1&2, armored fist, sam´n max, sim city, rebel assault and the indiana jones games from that mag  btw: in the gamestar forum someone mentioned ww2online, i googled it up and it looks like a great game. when i understand that right they are recreating ww2 online .. sounds good enough, im downloading the client right now to do some offline testing Link
kavoven 4 Posted August 26, 2004 I would say, that PC-Games is a bit better then Gamestar, because you don't have the south-german dialect in there for example, and in sometimes they're quiet neutral, but they also had the B&W hype, just to name one. Their are 4 big Gamer Magazines in Germany I think, Gamestar, PC-Games, PC-Action and Computerbild Spiele, and I wouldn't dream of calling even one 'good'... How many magazines have you got in GB, US, Sweden, Finland?

With the Dr. Jones diary or the famous code wheels as DIY (cut out, bind, have fun)!
Shashman 0 Posted August 26, 2004 How many magazines have you got in GB, US, Sweden, Finland? The most popular UK mags are PC Gamer, PC Format and PC Zone but there are sooo many smaller more specialised/less specialised/aimed at n00bs/aimed at gullible parents ones available
Placebo 29 Posted August 27, 2004 I guess I am not allowed to post a link to their forum (against the forum rules ) but you find it in "community" / "offene Foren" / "Meinungen zum Heft". LOL you should be a lawyer People if you are going to reply keep it mature, intelligent, articulate, restrained, remember we're the Opf community not the <insert name of a game with an immature following> community
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 27, 2004 our comments are fair and polite.. actually we werent the first ones on that forum to mention OFP.
Supah 0 Posted August 27, 2004 Well them saying they only wanted to test recent games is an ok excuse I guess. OFP is getting older and for a magazine you can't continue to test the older games, people want to read about new ones. On the other hand, if you are going to test for realisme the other games outside of AA were a bit odd choices. I dont read many gaming magazines, especially not on a regular basis. I leaf through them when i come across them in shops but most of the time its easier and more fun to just go on the internet and find out about the games you are waiting for from the devs sites and stuff. Gaming magazines can be horribly off, I remember one calling a F-100 from some game a "Shiny silvery mig". Amazing how good my german still is BTW, I can actually still read it without too much trouble
mr burns 131 Posted August 27, 2004 err.. is it just my brain again or is the thread on gamestar forums really gone ? cannot find it although i went through all titles on the first 3 pages  @albert: funny you metioned boomerang. reminds me of something a guy at work has written on the door: Freundlichkeit ist wie ein Bumerang, sie kommt zurück  and a sign in his office says: Regelmässiges Versagen ist auch eine Form von Zuverlässigkeit (continuous failure is a form of reliability too)
Heatseeker 0 Posted August 27, 2004 Why are you so pissed off? It's only a game. Stop treating OFP like it's some kind of god...[Gareth Gates must die] You dont really mean that... do you? .
