pogingwapo 0 Posted August 19, 2004 Boss ordered me to buy a new USB PCI card. What brand should I buy? Boss's unit has Windows 2000 Professional OS and it is three years old.
Placebo 29 Posted August 19, 2004 I would imagine it really doesn't matter what brand it is, all it does is give you more USB sockets, a lot of new motherboards come with them, mine did and I never use it Anyways troubleshooting is for Opf troubleshooting, not boss <s>shooting</s> troubleshooting, moving to OT
pogingwapo 0 Posted August 19, 2004 Boss's unit doesn't have a built-in USB port since it is three years old. My predecessor bought USB cards but they don't work. *@#*@%$ & *!! Placebo 29 Posted August 19, 2004 USB Cards is VIA VT6202. Hmm don't know them so don't know why they don't work, according to this site they don't require anything besides windows and a spare PCI slot, did you try the drivers on the CD? Don't know if these drivers are any different Edit: Quote[/b] ]VIA VT6202, VT6212 controller based USB 2.0 PCI cardsTrouble-shooting Advice Guide http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=
pogingwapo 0 Posted August 20, 2004 It is not 5-port. And it didn't have a box nor a CD. 4 Ports, Floppy driver, plastic pouch (click) Thank you for the links. Â
blackdog~ 0 Posted August 20, 2004 It depends on whether or not it's your money or his money that you're spending. Just go to the computer store ask for a USB card/expansion... they'll be priced higher but they'll more than likely give you the right thing the first time, and there will be no guesswork on your part like how the interweb usually works. Mister Frag 0 Posted August 20, 2004 Try to go with a brand you recognize, such as Adaptec or Belkin. Also, if you need to get a USB 2.0 hub, get one that has multiple transaction processors such as the Belkin Tetrahub. If you don't you will find that a single low-speed USB connection such as one used for a keyboard, mouse or joystick will hog the entire 480Mbps bandwidth that connects the hub to your PC.
