Blended metal ammo

Recommended Posts

Read it again, I first said it made perfect sense then asked a rethorical question (ie. how many? probably zero)...I know they're less effective against body armor.

Read what I said again:

I don't give a shit how effective it is or isn't, it should be illegal, and would be if the US were half as civilised as they claim to be.

I know.

Shooting people in general isn't a very civilized process.

I don't think that mainstay forces should use ammunition like that but I think it's perfectly justifiable for soldiers involved in special operations. They need to get their hands on whatever they can to get the job done.

Consider the types of weapons armed insurgents might be using and the fact they are more likely to break "rules of engagement" as far as the deployment of humane weapons.

No ifs, no buts. If a country has agreed not to use ammunition that causes unnecessary suffering, IT DOES NOT USE IT. EVER. End of line.

The blended metal ammo is just another way of introducing a substitute for hollow points. Like that new incendiary napalm-like stuff (don't recall what it is called) is a substitute for napalm. Nothing different about them, except that the name of the new stuff hasn't got any negative connotations in media.. yet.

About expanding rounds: It's difficult to say. You suffer less if you get a hollow point in the chest than for instance a 5,56 FMJ round. If you get shot in the leg or arms, it's the other way around. You can recover quite fine from say getting a 5,56 FMJ in the thigh. A hollow point on the other hand will mutilate you. It's a bit difficult to judge altoghether.

Different recipe, same results...

There's just a little bit less benzene in the new formula ...

-edit-

ok, just remembered the name of the new toy, it's the 77 mod 5, as I said, less benzene as it's made of Jet-Fuel.

Is this a little bit the same as glaser(?) rounds. These I think, have small metal pellets inside of liquid teflon in the tip of the round.

When shot these pellets get loose and do massive damage to a person. I believe that they are used by police forces as they dont ricochet or go through bodies or walls.

Glaser Safety Slugs use small shot inside a hollowed-out jacketed bullet with a polymer tip.

No police department I know of uses them. They are too expensive to train with, and the potential of civil lawsuits with allegations of civil rights violations from ticked-off relatives is something that no department or municipality wants.

Ok. Unrelated question. Why the hell does that media player classic stutter like a mofo when playing video files?

It stops and starts regardless of whether the format is streamed or not? Anyone have this problem too?

Works perfectly for me, try changing the video settings in the configuration.

That would be peculiar considering it is from the makers of K-Lite and a complete scan by the newest version of Spybot found nothing. icon4.gif

You're making assumptions, this pack is highly popular and functional.

But well, this topic is about ammo not codecs. PM me if you have more questions.
