drow 0 Posted July 9, 2004 Hi all, We are currently looking for another historian. Applicants need to REALLY know their facts, 14 year olds with some trivia knowledge need not apply. We're looking for the kind of guy/guys who know every facet of the firesupport use and techniques from the period, as well as knowledge of the various combat strategies used in battle by both sides. Any other knowledge who be an asset. I hope one of you has this type of knowledge and is interested in assisting us in making the most realistic Vietnam War simulation to date. Thank you. Â The war was basically moving from point A to point B for the hell of it simply just to kill the NVA. Â No strategy was used IMO. Â The only major offence was during Tet when a bunch of the NVA used the Ho Chi Minh trail to attack key parts of Vietnam controlled by the U.S. Other than that, most of the war was just a bunch of walking around, campaign out, waiting for a waypoint from your commander and moving to that area, and shooting people. I'm not trying to be a complete know it all here(well,I 'spose I am ) but a few boo-boos there.Tet was a Viet-Cong offensive not an NVA one(Yes,there is a difference)There were three offensives:Tet in '68(pretty much destroyed the VC as as fighting force),The Easter offensive in '72(NVA beaten by US airpower)and the last one in '75.You got the rest right tho' Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

You aren't going to find a vietnam historian on this board so why try? Just look on the internet, you'll find what your looking for better than asking on this forum. No one, and I mean no one, on this board to my knowledge is a qualified 'expert' on any war. You could at least specify what you want out of this so called 'expert'. Hell, even Encarta encyclopedia by Microsoft has a complete timeline of events in Vietnam. Or here's an idea why don't you just go to a library? It's not my fault if you don't want to get down and dirty to get some extra work for your mod done, but instead you come here and INSIST on an EXPERT to come to you with open arms saying "Hello! The Vietnam war started on - the Vietnam war had these main places - the Vietnam war had these major events - the Vietnam war had these major offensives - the Vietnam war had these kind of aircraft doing these kinds of things with these kinds of spies - the Vietnam war ended on..." Jesus christ, if I was representing a modification I would at least try to lead myself in a professional manner. Just my two cents Hopefully that helps you acomplish something from this thread. Thanks everyone for your efforts, but I seem to know more than anyone who has posted here yet, I already mentioned that trivia on the war is useless to us, thats all common knowledge, and SpecOp, they definitly used strategies in that war, they pioneered a shitload of new ones only this TEN YEAR WAR... anyways people thanks for trying.
