Reaper1978 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Greetings all, I've been having problems with buldozer and Visitor importing an island. I've read all the solutions and topics on this forum and nothing helps out. I import the island, get the rectangular error message. I then reload buldozer and try to import again and nothing happens. I've tried all the solutions listed here and nothing works. Is it possibly related to another problem that I get in buldozer? Where I click the mouse button in the window and it crashes to desktop every time. Any help importing islands would be much appreciated.
jakerod 254 Posted July 3, 2004 I think it is related to buldozer the way you have it, does it appear in a half window or in a full window covering the whole screen? it may take me a while to get back to you i have work for the next couple of days.
Reaper1978 0 Posted July 4, 2004 I've tried it both ways, windowed and full-screen. I experience the same crashes with both of them.
NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted July 6, 2004 heres what i do start visitor file-new- 256x256 - start buldozer connect to buldozer then import .wrp buldozer should crash so just start it again and conect to buldozer it should take some time to load depending on the size of the map.somev as its imported save it as soon as possiable. Reaper1978 0 Posted July 6, 2004 I've tried to import that way many times to no success. The first crash is the rectangular error. The second time, I reopen or reload buldozer (tried both), tell it to import the island. The buldozer screen will open up, and you'll see the black screen with the white line showing it load. About ten seconds after that I will receive an error message saying that there was a problem encountered and do I want to send a report to microsoft (yeah that happy screen ) Visitor then will not respond to anything and has to be stopped via task manager. And its not loading the island as I left it running for 30 mins just in case it was.
Sexacutioner 0 Posted January 19, 2005 Same thing happens to me. Says error occured in flashpoint.exe....
Sexacutioner 0 Posted January 19, 2005 Looking at how old this is, I have a feeling I will never get help with this....which sucks because visitor is what I want to use because I'm just editing an existing official island for a multiplayer game and the view in buldozer is much easier for making landscape changes than wrptool or wrpedit for me. MK1 0 Posted January 20, 2005 i seem to be having the exact same problem. the result is both programs crashing (and flashpoint.exe too).. any development on this problem? just to add, i was wondering if this has something to do with the version or settings of the game itself? i have 1.96 goty ofp and kege's dxdll enabled with direct3d hw t&l as display device.
Sexacutioner 0 Posted January 20, 2005 I have GOTY 1.96 as well, without the kege's dll. I also have a no-cd crack (as I try to do with all my games for convenience). If anyone else has a no-cd crack with the same problems too I will try re-installing, otherwise might be a problem with GOTY edition or the 1.96.
MK1 0 Posted January 20, 2005 i've no no-cd cracks since iirc you don't need such with the 1.96 release.. well, at least i don't seem to need since ofp starts without the cd and i've got no cracks installed.
Sexacutioner 0 Posted January 20, 2005 Yea, I just installed it on another system and same problem. Â So far I've tried windows xp and windows 2000 with both getting an error. Â Both computers have an EVGA Gforce 5900 too. Come to think of it, I don't think I applied a no-cd patch but just assumed I did since it didn't ask for cd. berghoff 11 Posted January 23, 2005 I never got a 4WVR island into Visitor, buldozer always crashed. But you can however import all the cwc island without any trouble.
jakerod 254 Posted January 24, 2005 I managed to get one of my islands into visitor a long long time ago but since that one I don't think I have ever been able to.
Sexacutioner 0 Posted January 24, 2005 So far no form of wrp works for me. I have exported a .wrp file from wrpedit, wrptool and visitor itself and none of them can be imported into visitor without getting the flashpoint.exe has generated errors message. MK1 0 Posted January 24, 2005 oh well.. i even tried converting the txt-data of my island into ase and the ase file to visitor, but the end result was an island consisting on small "dots". the shape was there but when you zoomed in you could see that only the lower right conrner of the cell had land on it and the rest was water :P luckily i didn't need visitor for other purposes than texture making and that can be done on any piece of land. i just have to place the textures then in wrptool. Sexacutioner 0 Posted January 24, 2005 Yea, I'm working in wrptool now too, but unfortunatelly you can't reload that file in wrpedit. Wrptool is great for making roads and textures, but you can't set any ground flags.
Planck 1 Posted January 24, 2005 If you save your island in WrpTool you should be able to load it into WrpEdit once you pass it through Binarize. This will make it into OPRW format instead of 4WVR. This is presuming that it is only 256 X 256 in size. There is no way I know of to reverse the process though, so it might be best to keep a a 4WVR version as well. .granQ. 0 Posted February 3, 2005 can anyone make some simpel guide how you binarize.. heard alot about you need a special version of binarize.. and need to throw in some config as well?
Planck 1 Posted March 4, 2005 I'll try to detail the procedure as I remember it. It has to be said though that I don't really use WrpTool as it doesn't work too well with Windows Me. It works but, very very sloooooooooooowly. If your island uses default OFP textures ...Landtext.pbo ......Abel.pbo..... Cain.pbo...... Eden.pbo....O.pbo, then those pbo's must be unpbo'ed into the same folder as Binarize is in. Your .wrp file should be in its own appropriately named folder, also inside the folder that Binarize is in. If you have used custom textures then, these textures need to be in the folder where your .wrp file is, or inside their own folder, it all depends on the path to your textures as set inside the .wrp file. Finally, you need your .wrp config.cpp also inside the folder where the .wrp file is. When you run Binarize, it should then be able to find all the textures you have used in the .wrp file. If all goes smoothly without any errors you should end up with an OPRW format .wrp file. Hope I have made this clear enough, if not, post here and I will run my own limited experiments and report the results and hopefully a more definitive guide. But as I said running WrpTool here is a painful experience EDIT: Most of the above would apply to addons also. Planck
berghoff 11 Posted March 5, 2005 hmmm in full-screen I managed to import Nogova. Strange. Maybe I miss some addons when loading my custom Island?
berghoff 11 Posted March 5, 2005 Oh now I see, I didn't know you could change the format by Binarizing! This is great. I've succesfully imported it now. Thanks.
fasad 1 Posted October 5, 2006 in my experience, visitor will not be able to import a binarized island unless it has at least one object on it (and possibly only if the object is available for buldozer/visitor to use).
