Monkey Lib Front 10 Posted June 21, 2004 can these be used in the mission editor?
drow 0 Posted June 21, 2004 yes they can, look at the screen shots, which reminds me, our new sky addon is almost ready as well, so stay tuned for an update on it.
Monkey Lib Front 10 Posted June 21, 2004 nice, can u post that mirror in the thread for this in "addons and mod complete" also, someone has recently told me, our mod is doomed because now no news sites will post anything on us, because we've pulled these trees from another game without permission. Do u think this is the case? I (if i wasnt in a mod) would just be happy to have these plants in ofp... happy for everyone. To respond to this, im not sure about them not posting but im pretty sure alot of adon makers have used CS weapons and i remeber GFX using DoD models and everybody here urged him to release, inquisitor uses other textures on models eg he used the Lomac cockpit for his A10. tbh i don't care anymore about it, addon makers do what you do to make OFP a richer game at your own risk. but i do appreciate it. Chris Death 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Quote[/b] ]also, someone has recently told me, our mod is doomed because now no news sites will post anything on us, because we've pulled these trees from another game without permission.Do u think this is the case? I (if i wasnt in a mod) would just be happy to have these plants in ofp... happy for everyone. OK, i took the quote from your last post in the a&d/discussion thread. I understand your motivation for releasing these, but i also believe that: you indeed take a high risk of doing something illegal. See it the same way as offering copyrighted music for free download - that's illegal. Or see it that way: If you create models for ofp, using o2 - then you must not use these models for anything else than ofp (can be found somewhere in the readme). I totally understand that BIS wouldn't want to provide tools, just to make other companie's games better - and so may it be the case with EA (better say i'm sure it is the case). Wether your mod is doomed now or not - i don't know - haven't heard anything about that yet - and i think before that happens, you may get requests to remove the dl link first, to fix the situation. Everybody knows you didn't want to steal something, you just wanted to give something to our comunity. However - i'm not an expert in this at all, so i might be totally wrong too - but that's what i believe. ~S~ CD
HotShot 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Quote[/b] ]I like this pack, looks good, and is a change from other vietnam environments (good as they are, you see smae thing everywhere! ). So will you include different types of grass in next addon pack? And rice paddies or something??Mirror HERE
quicksand 0 Posted June 21, 2004 I think that we should stop discussing about this mather. It`s your risk, you prooved willing to take it,for my part as an end user I am just very happy that I will get the oportunity to use them. Your mod has shown extremly high quallity work in the past such as your marines, you have a great team from what I`ve read,it`s stupid to say that your mod is doomed for this stated reason as it`s a your free effort to provide the community with high quallity Vietnam area addons. There have been other realeses "inspired" from SOF2,Counter-Strike,Medal of Honour etc. and even the other way around or so I`ve heared from Operation Flashpoint to another popular game.It wasn`t a problem in the past it shouldn`t be one in the present. My last word is thank you for sharing your work with the community by giving us this excelent pack,I am extremly anxious to see the full release of your MOD. drow 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Quote[/b] ]If you are using copyrighted stuff without permission, why should others respect your work and ask you about permission to rip it apart? Thats a multi-billion dollar corporation, we do ask permission of any mod or modder if we have interest in using their stuff and would expect the same from anyone wishing to use ours (refering to addons which we have made besides this plant pack). ag_smith 0 Posted June 21, 2004 someone can tell me from where Ebud got his trees ? Â You'd be surprised, but I'm sure he made them all by himself. BTW. There's a specialized 3d modelling program called "Onyx Tree Storm". Just do google for more details. Maybe that's what you need?

There's a specialized 3d modelling program called "Onyx Tree Storm". Just do google for more details. Maybe that's what you need? Actually, as far as 3D low poly tree modeling programs go, Onyx is old school. There are much better programs out there like Natfx, Speedtree for 3D Studio Max and Xfrog. I have all 3 actually. Speedtree seems to be the best for designing trees with billboards suitable for OFP. When I have the time I am going to be using this to make some new trees for the game. Xfrog renders amazing looking photo quality vegetation, but it is often high poly, so adjustments need to be made to the model. Some Links: Xfrog 3.5 Natfx Speedtree (This Rocks!) About 1/2 way through I gave up and used DD2 and LOS trees. Never tried to hide that, and stated it over and over in the thread. The first few versions are all custom. And there are still lots of hand made rendered plants in there. I also havea copy of Tree Storm and all of my renders ended up looking just like the files used in ilo, so I went with what I was already using.

ag_smith 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Just to clear up, I don't condemn you for what you have done, no offence was meant in my post. I'm happy that there're more and more various objects (especially good looking ones) available for my favourite game!! Â ... and contrary to what seems to be public opinion, I don't mind at all that they're imported from diffrent game... Â PS. I've even done the very same thing as far as some of "my" textures are concerned.
Chris Death 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Same as Agent Smith said goes here. I hope my previous post wasn't unclear about this, where i said it may be illegal to do so. I appreciate what you've done, by offering new objects for us to be used in OFP. ~S~ CD
TheRedBaron 0 Posted June 22, 2004 I doubt EA cares if you used their trees. You are not making a profit and they are not losing profit. We are using the tree models for a game thats already been around for a few years and I dont think its any more illegal than making a mod for BFV. PS- I think its really cool that you can import models from other games.gj
HunterKiller 0 Posted June 22, 2004 Just like to point out that with BFV you get modding tools to mod with plus a large tutorial base made by them. so i guess its ok
Schoeler 0 Posted June 22, 2004 I can't see any real legal ramifications from this anyway. it's not like any money is being made. Even if the original maker were upset, what are they going to do, sue you for the fun everyone had with the addon?
drow 0 Posted June 22, 2004 no they would sue for more sinister things... anyways whats done is done, enjoy the pack... and pray for my ass.
-HC-Para 0 Posted June 23, 2004 BeefNam vegetation pack (released) looks a lot better than the unreleased version I had a look at earlier. I think the lighting needs to be reduced on most of the vegetation objects, the colours ingame are quite incompatible with either SEBNam, SEBIlo or Resistance colour schemes - they are just too bright! Most people will want to mix types, lets face it, so please ensure that the lighting on all the objects in this pack is similar to that used by SEB and BIS. **It's a really great start. Keep up the good work! Para
