Uss arleigh burke project

Spruances were ASW DDGs. Arleigh Burke specialise more in the missile role (well, fighting subs isn't just launching ASROCs tounge_o.gif ). Their brothers, the Kidd class destroyers, were the ones fulfilling the role of missile destroyers for other-than-asw stuff. Just that there weren't enough of them around. That was fixed with the Arleigh Burke. wink_o.gif

Spruances were damn good ships, but the Arleigh was able to do everything they did, and more.

With the Flight IIA mods, a lot better... incredibly better...

Weapons must be figured out, but I got a new texturer.

As far as pics, when texturing starts we'll have pics.

Pappy and I brainstormed that we'll have 2 versions. One will play like a boat and drive around with only the 5 inch gun useable. The second will be static (Not even a move script due to lessons learned by Trenchfeet), and all weapons aboard the Flight IIA will be available for usage.

Well, at least the static one will be able to defend itself successfully... make sure that both have land-able heli-decks, plz...

P.S.: With all the effort going into the Burke, what's the status of the O.H.Perry?

Will this baby be able to fire the coc tomahawks or what will come out of the tubes? And will you add the coc torpedos to if it is realistic of course i don't know anything about the ship in rl and i don't know what is coming out of the tubes in rl

The reason there weren't many of the Ayatollah class <Kidd>

Flight I (to be done later) will obviously only include a LAMPS III system. Flight IIA will include a landable helicopter deck, and may include a script to lock the helicopter to the ship, or stow it.

We have an OHP model, but we're doing nothing to it quite yet.

As far as torpedoes and CoC compatibility, that's unknown. That will probably be last in development, figuring out how to make the ASROC work, and how a Harpoon or BGM109 pod would work.

If you want this done in 2 months we need:

4 modellers for the interior

at least 5 texturers

2 config experts, 1 for weaps 1 for general configging/scripts

about 5-6 testers willing to ACTUALLY work out the bugs and not take the betas and run

a lot of support from the community

As you can see this is a ton of work. Any help, be it miniscule or magnificent, will be appreciated.

EDIT: If nobody helps, you've always got the Falklands mod. I guess if nobody really feels it prudent to have a US destroyer or two in there, there's no reason to go on making it. I have to say I admire the tenacity of which you people have pursued this venture, but if nobody signs on to help out, it's inevitable, it will not happen.

I'm not seeing anyone really lining up to help. By Friday the 25th, if nobody is willing to even support this project, we will have no choice but to cancel the project and delete the model. Nobody is helping. Nobody on the team is really working. Nobody is volunteering. There is no reason to prolong this project if nobody is willing to help.

Erm... why delete already such a good model? Better just keep it somewhere so that when there's time or help available, somebody can pick it up again... I don't see BIS going to include these ships in OFP 2... so whatever you do, don't throw 'em away completely!!! crazy_o.gif

The whole thing is, if nobody is willing to help us with the model, there's no reason to use that 350kb space on our harddrives.

If nobody helps us with the model, you would be hard pressed to see me giving someone else the model.

350 kb?!? wow_o.gif That is ALL that the model takes up? Would've thought it'd be more...

Well, in that case, you could even put it on a 1.44mb 3.5" diskette, or even a 1.25mb 5.25" one (still got such a drive on my PC tounge_o.gif )... smile_o.gif

I would try and texture....tho i've never textured b4 and i would prolly need a tut sad_o.gif but most tuts are for photoshop mad_o.gif and not for PhotoImpact Pro 8.5, tho it is just as good......

Come on MSpencer, there's no need to start a drama here, maybe just put it on ftp, so that everybody could have a look at it. Maybe somebody will decide to take a challange? I don't understand what the whole problem is about because AFAIK you've not even made the base model by yourself!  wink_o.gif

... Whatever you decide, just don't delete the model... if 350kB is really that much for you, send it to me, I've got plenty of HDD space to spare for things like this one.
