ag_smith 0 Posted May 27, 2004 What about interiors? Are these already modeled in your model? (I mean, just basic locations: the bridge, hanger, etc.)
MSpencer 0 Posted May 27, 2004 1. Playable as in a static object. Still needs EXTENSIVE modelling, but we have a basic outside model done. 2. No progress on interiors as of yet. Could use help.
NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I dont have any idea of what the interiors look like. But we can always make one up.
Major Fubar 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Mybe you could get permission to use the interiors of the LSD as a base or guide...
MSpencer 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Perhaps, however that all depends... looks like we're damned till we find a squid.
FerretFangs 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Well, I was a squid, "snipe." Nuclear machinist Mate 3rd class, USS Abraham Lincoln, back during the first Gulf War. So I might be able to say what looks authentic or not, but I didn't spend any time on the bridge, in the CIC, or really even very long above the water line on that pig. I do, however, have numerous resources and contacts that may be able to provide detailed images of these areas.
MSpencer 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Any help is appreciated!
havocsquad 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I'll see what I can find and dig up for you. Â Hopefully OFP 2 will allow more flexible and better simulation which will allow full or effective simulation of naval units such as submarines, surface ships, and carriers. Here's a schematic of the layout of an Arliegh Burke class CiC room. I'll keep looking, but the USN tightly controlls pictures taken in-ship and probably will have difficulty finding very many helpful diagrams.
waffendennis 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Using the TOW LSD interrior would be a NO I gues but you could always aks Jahve
FHP_Intercepter 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I have pictures of a CIC (don't remember if it's a DDG or not) somewhere from my time in the Navy Sea Cadets, I'll see if I can find them for you. I have also spent much time aboard DDGs so I can help you determine if things look right. Let me know what you need.
MSpencer 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Waffen, who are you to dictate TOW's actions?
NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted May 29, 2004 Small update on exterior.Model has 3829 points an 3748 Faces.
FerretFangs 0 Posted May 29, 2004 Hey that looks really good! Now this part, I can help you with, naval warfare is my particular area of expertise. I'm tempted to keep this to myself, becasue this is what we really needed- an Arleigh Burke cruiser! But in keeping with reality, you've got twice as many VLS tubes on the bow, as opposed to what's actually fitted, IRL. It's really 32 tubes forward, 64 aft. ( Flight IIA ) Reference all of this here: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/ddg-51.htm Also, you've got an old gun up front. You've got the 5"54 MK 42 gun system, or an MK 75 76mm/3-inch gun. You want the MK 45 5-inch / 62-caliber (MOD 4 ERGM) system. Now it's difficult to tell from this angle, but it looks like the step from the aft missle deck is a little too shallow. The Helo hangers are located here, so you may want to increase your draft by about three meters. See here for what I'm talking about: http://www.globalsecurity.org/militar....22.jpg. Anyway, you got this well in hand, I look forward to seeing more progress!
Pappy Boyington 0 Posted May 29, 2004 ill be attempting the exterior textures for it. i aint no marfy but ill get her lookin half decnet
MSpencer 0 Posted May 29, 2004 After seeing the Momsen being built in Bath, I considered doing the Flight IIA, I mean those Mk19s and M2s are damn nice... Of course we'd get stuck with more work. Perhaps later, after Flight I is complete.

-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted May 29, 2004 this is what we really needed- an Arleigh Burke cruiser! Arleigh Burke is a DDG, ergo guided-missile destroyer, NOT cruiser. The Ticonderoga is THE missile cruiser class, CG-52 to CG-73 having MK41 vertical missile launching system. Â Quote[/b] ]nice heli ...
