miles teg 1 Posted May 25, 2004 Hello.....These are some top notch units but I was wondering if it is possible to make a completely ai group put the bayonets on or is it only by player.... I would really like to know since I want a massive charge with bayonets..... you know you had the naggin feeling to do the same so be nice and share the script? Â Â As posted on the 'bayonet anim for a rifle' thread: Try entering the following line of code into a unit's init field: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">[This] Exec "\ukf_ukweps\Scripts\FixBayonet\FixCommand.sqs" That should cause every soldier in that unit's group to attach his bayonet as soon as the game starts. Â If you want them fixed immediately from the start, just remove the soldier's 'UKF_SA80' and replace it with a 'UKF_SA80_B'. Â The script should automatically pick up the abnormality and take appropriate action. As for sharing the script...well I've had a really bad day and I'm not inclined to describe the way it works right now...but you can talk to Jonno about getting the script itself if you like. Â Problem is though, the way I see it, the bayonet script (although buggy) is one of the things that sets our infantry apart from other addons. Â It's our novelty bit. Â He'll probably not give it out to anyone who asks, perhaps the falklands mod, but not 'til the 1.1 release (he wants me to fix all these bugs first). Â That's really a shame that you guys won't help other mods use your bayonet system. Â If Footmunch, Col. Klink, Martin, and other pioneers in OFP modding had that attitude and refused to let other addon makers and mod teams use their discoveries and hard work and kept everything secret, then OFP we'd be back to very simple addons. Â The Lost Brothers, with help from Korax recently created a working anti-mine roller system for CEV vehicles. Â If we wanted to we could encrypt the hell out of it and say "Screw you all, our rollers make our tanks different then everyone else's so be happy with what you get and if you want one in your mod go make your own cuz we're not going to help you with it." Â Suffice to say, I think that if we took that attitude, A LOT of people would be really pissed off that we didn't share the roller system with other addon makers and mod teams because its a badly needed part of the game that has been missing until now. Â At any rate, we plan on releasing the rollers with our Puma CEV once that's done and sharing it with any one who wants to use it and/or improve the system. Â Likewise, a working bayonet was something that was missing and I think its a shame that you guys go against the spirit of cooperation in the OFP community. Â But you guys are free to do what you want and I hope your team will consider in the future sharing the bayonet system with the OFP mod community so that we can have bayonets on US and Russian soldiers and any other country's soldiers. Â With that said, I think this addon is fantastic and I am enjoying these British troops very much. Â Keep up the great work. Â I'm looking forward to the desert uniformed soldiers and the Warrior especially! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 25, 2004 He'll probably not give it out to anyone who asks, perhaps the falklands mod, but not 'til the 1.1 release (he wants me to fix all these bugs first).  I think that perhaps I phrased that wrong I should have said he'd probably not give it out to just anyone (ie. not an individual, but perhaps an established mod team)...but when eventually we do release it to the other mod teams, we want it to work properly.  Besides, he's yet to give you a reply so would you at least let Jonno give you fellas an answer before writing him off? I wrote it, and it's got an awful lot of bugs, so I'll be pretty insulted and humiliated if we give it to somebody else now and they fix it first.

I think Tom may of worded that poorly? *edit, yep I was right  Easy Tiger, the pack hasn't been out 48 hrs yet, and before we consider helping others to implement it we want to get the v1.1 update out to fix a known bug, which gives an error when an ai law80 unit attaches the bayonet. That doesn't mean we won't let others use it, but give it a couple of weeks atleast. Already Falklands and the civil war mod are likely to use it, the only thing is, Tom the brains behind it, in a few days time will be unavailable as he is in the army and will be overseas without net access, so helping otherS to understand how it all works may be tricky.
miss_cleo 0 Posted May 25, 2004 well.. i was gonna ask if you guys would release the config for these units... i guess my question has been answered..
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 25, 2004 The configs? What do you want them for? I don't think there's anything special going on in them.

miles teg 1 Posted May 25, 2004 Cool. Thanks for the Clarification Jonno and Tom. I look forward to the final version. But so far I think the soldiers, weapons, and bayonet system are all fantastic. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
desantnik 0 Posted May 26, 2004 Thank you for these troops.... and the script wasnt for me I was just remembering that American civil war mod that never got released cause the guy couldnt figure out the scripts.... Anyway... awesome units.... your mod's units will already go down in OFP history as a mileston... Thank you
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 26, 2004 Bloody hell. Â Considering it took us so long to release and it's so full of bugs...you fellas sure are happy with what we've given you On behalf of the whole team, thanks a lot, glad you're not disappointed. Â And I think that's enough 'singing UKF's praises' for one lifetime. Â We'll be sure to let you know when we release 1.1 (or at least Jonno will because I won't be here). Â You'll probably be pleased to hear I've already corrected a couple bugs. Â One major issue (player freezing after a bayonet strike) has been solved by changing a delay time by 0.2 seconds. Â Simple as that...shame we didn't get it first time. Â But I still can't solve the problem of the action menu options duplicating when you exit a vehicle. miss_cleo 0 Posted May 26, 2004 i just wanted the configs so i can make a few units w/ custom loadouts for my self... using kabals excellent FAL and sniper rifle packs.
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 26, 2004 Right, well you'll have to get ahold of Jonno for that. Throw rocks at him 'til you get his attention...or email him, whichever works best for you. Failing that, just use a regular UKF rifleman and use the Add/Remove Weapon/Magzine commands.
somebloke 0 Posted May 26, 2004 I find that using grenades works better on jonno, anyway if i try and put down one of the groups other than a rifle squad my game ctd.
alcazar 0 Posted May 26, 2004 I was wondering about the zoom on the LMG - it makes the weapon pretty much a death ray in comparison with the GPMG for example. I can see no optics on the in-game model to account for the zoom... Nice sight on the SA80/UGL, by the way.
Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted May 26, 2004 This pack is really excellent, has the AI been tweaked? they seem to outperform the BIS AI consistently. The touches like the LAW80 discards are brilliant. The SA80 feels like the real thing, and the CEFO looks just right. I haven't really got any critiscisms yet since I haven't gotten to spend much time testing them out. FatJoe 0 Posted May 26, 2004 ohh yeah.. The UCL sights are fantastic.. for those who dont know it yet they can give a one shot - one kill, like advertised at www.project-ukf.com. If you've got the distance to the target you can take your aim and take the target out in one shot, as long as it isn't armored :P Great for MP CO-OP games where you can have your teamleader tell you the distance to the target. ;) Cheers Joe

Ionio 0 Posted May 26, 2004 ...they can give a one shot - one kill, like advertised at www.project-ukf.com. If you've got the distance to the target you can take your aim and take the target out in one shot, as long as it isn't armored :P... Yeah, but when the enemy is on a different level to you it is slightly harder. I think the SA80/UCL is on of the coolest looking weapons ever. When I was still living in the UK I used to be the CCF (combined cadet force) at my school, we used a scaled down SA80, L98 of something, anyway, it wasn't automatic, but was like the SA80 in everyother way - ever gonna make it? One major, major screw up is that your weapons rock, whereas in reality the SA80 is a bitch for stoppages. Thanks again guys.
UKFMav 0 Posted May 26, 2004 The SA80 isn't bad really, it's only very very bad with blanks. As for the L98, no.
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 27, 2004 The A2's great. No problem with mine, and that was after 4 months in the desert. Besides, stoppages in-game would just be annoying.
stevevcb 3 Posted May 27, 2004 Sod's law dictates that they'd only happen when you really could do without them. If you were sat on a hill 400m back with a GPMG, you'd not get a single stoppage, but if you were right on top of someone with your SA80, it'd bugger up. Then again, if you've got the old pig sticker on the end...
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 27, 2004 LOL! True story. But as long as it snaps in half inside them, I'm happy.
Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted May 27, 2004 My experience of the SA80 is that its ergonomically the worst of the western bull pups by far, its like a target rifle rather than something designed for battle. It is very accurate (at least in the DCCT) but thats only part of the package with a battlefield weapon. Anyway back to topic, when will we see some company level support weapons?
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Poor design ergonomically? Well...like I said, I'm perfectly happy with mine and I've never found it to be uncomforable. Anyway, what do you mean by 'company level support weapons'? We already have LSW's, Minimis and GPMG's, but when you say 'company level' I assume you mean something bigger. Mortars? Milans? Vehicles even? Are you talking about the Warrior? Could you be a little more specific?
