miles teg 1 Posted February 4, 2005 What we can do is add in perhaps one soldier model per unit with a PASGT helmet just to make the Israeli guys happy. It won't hurt anything at least. But don't expect a whole squad of them. If you want MG, AT, ect...guys with the PASGT helmets you'll have to add those weapons in manually. But at any rate, just sticking a PASGT helmet on at least one model is easy enough. As for the realism of our helmets, I've had several people email me asking us to fix the helmet, but they either want it bigger (like the British Mk6 kelvar helmet one of which I own ), or they want it to look like the helmets without the covers on them. I spent alot of time looking carefully at the helmets on our IDF units and I concluded that they are pretty damn close to the real thing. The British Mk4 helmets are larger then the IDF helmets (although they have a similar shape) so they are definitely not the same thing (as even I first thought). So basically no change will be made to their shape. As far as ballistic protection goes I know the PASGT helmets (I own one of those also) have better coverage, but I don't know if they have a whole lot more ballistic protection. What I do know is that rifle bullets DO go through them quite easily. Some people think they are bullet proof against rifle rounds but that is a myth except for some of the heavier types used by Special Operations forces in the US military. If you're lucky, they may deflect rifle rounds however. As was said earlier, the IDF also have some heavy rifle proof helmets, but so far I haven't been able to find pictures of them to see if whether they are in the PASGT style or not. If anyone can find pics of those helmets that would be useful. Oh...also I wanted to add that we do have most of our police units using the PASGT helmets. habahaba 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Thanks for PASGT helmet! What i can say about your israeli helmet that it looks good but you only need to remake a strap on it. As for heavy helmets. Yes israel use such configurations but they are very rare. PASGT based and the other one for police.
SM_Azazel 0 Posted February 4, 2005 that last image is the prison guard units not really police. but yes same concept. but the bullet proof helmet comes in all the styles. i found an site to buy them. oh and i think there is an strap on them already you just can't always see it due to clipping and it only beign an plane
habahaba 0 Posted February 4, 2005 About heavy helmet. I called it "police helmet" only because i dont know how its called. Such helmets are used by horse police, prison guards etc. The strap on your israeli helmet looks stupid. It must be like that:
CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Quote[/b] ]The strap on your israeli helmet looks stupid nice. Anyways...I was wondering if you guys had any update pics of your arab units compared to those new ones release the other day.

habahaba 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Why not to cooperate with John J. Rambo in making terrorists? His Middle East Rebels look rather good.
Stelios 1 Posted February 5, 2005 Ehm, these rebels are terrorists. You know them headchopping-psycho-"daddy didnt give 'em attention when they were young"-chaps from Al Qaeda? They pretty much resemble these units.
miles teg 1 Posted February 5, 2005 Ehm, these rebels are terrorists. You know them headchopping-psycho-"daddy didnt give 'em attention when they were young"-chaps from Al Qaeda? They pretty much resemble these units. Actually...they are whatever you want them to be. My missions that I make with them will not always depict them that way. In reality there are many Islamic militant groups. Yes some are of the headchoping, woman hating variety. However others have specific codes of conduct where they will not target intentionally civilian targets such as women and children. This includes some of the Palistinian militants who do not subscribe to the Hamas/Islamic Jihad doctrine of suicide bombing. Even some Hamas members don't subscribe to that doctrine as they are a fairly diverse organization united mainly by the fact that they all want to be free of oppression. But yeah, by and large they will generally be used to depict the militant extremists. Heck my mod team even has a suicide van addon that will probably be part of this pack. But nevertheless for many in the Middle East these "terrorists" are called freedom fighters. Ironic when we claim to be trying to give them Freedom in Iraq. For them freedom is freedom from foreign influence and meddling in their affairs. Their fight they believe is mandated by their religion. It is their faith getting confused with their own hatred however that is where it ends up getting corrupted and twisted to where somehow they start believing that its ok to kill fellow Muslims and to judge the hearts of these Iraqis and every American soldier as if they were omniscient like God. That is the ego and arrogance...their nefs (earthly desires), and shaitan (satan) speaking to them according to moderate Muslims who don't believe in terrorism. But nevertheless the Al-Qaeda doctrine is powerfully motivating as it captures the passion and yearning to be a warrior in the hearts of young Muslim men. Here is an example of a rough translation from a militant chant sung during marches or before an assault to motivate the insurgent soldiers (taken from the book "My Jihad" by Aukai Collins): "Sabilallah! Sabilallah!"- What is Allah's Way? "Al Jihad! Al Jihad!"- Jihad is the Way! "Tariqnah! Tariqnah!"- What does Allah Say? "Al Kital! Al Kital!" - KILL! KILL! These powerful chants, along with the stories of the great paradise they will enter upon being martyred, drive these men to die willingly and even seek death which is why you get these idiots who blow themselves up happily ignoring verses in the Qu'ran against suicide and against killing fellow Muslims or in fact killing anyone who does not attack them first. But instead they believe they know everyone's hearts with all their conspiracy theories that they take as truth. This, along with hatred towards the West (often due to them losing loved ones to American or Israeli forces), is part what fuels their fury and religious ferver. CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 5, 2005 I'll stick to the West. Â EDIT: SuperBowl is tomorrow afterall and there's no time for chanting.
Stelios 1 Posted February 5, 2005 I know the varieties of terrorists, but was commenting on the fact that some guy wanted to know if there would be any terrorist units. These rebels could easily pass for terrorists, and offcourse some other paramilitary groups of the regions. And i stuck to Al Qaeda chaps, Al Qaeda known and hated for it's very extreme views and actions. I think OBL wore an outfit quite the same as one in the JJR rebel pack in one of his home videos. But all in all, a good explanation of terrorism Miles. A good read. (btw, didnt i say that in another topic)
miles teg 1 Posted February 5, 2005 Ah ok. Cool. Yeah OBL wears similar stuff...like that old US Army cammo field jacket (minus the US flag). At any rate I will use them on the Sinai pack to simulate Al-Qaeda militants operating in the Sinai who the Egyptian military are cracking down hard on now hunting them down with their commando units. It would be a good mission to use the Egyptian Task Force 777 for. They are the elite Egyptian counter-terrorist force and can be found in our LoBo addon pack #2. I'll probably also use our militants in a airport hostage rescue mission I'm working on. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Tomislav 0 Posted February 7, 2005 @miles: nice units i must say, but i think the guys in the grey robes should be textured a bit darker and dirtier. but that is only my opinion.
miles teg 1 Posted February 7, 2005 Yeah the robes are tricky. Once the pack is out, we'll probably do an update of it later on where stuff will get improved. But if I have time I'll see what I can do on it. Also if anyone else improves the pack after its released we'll update it with the improvements and credits to that individual. habahaba 0 Posted February 9, 2005 Arab units look rather good, i like it. Arabs don't wear robes during clashes, they put them on only for demonstrations... but for the game it's OK. Your AK's look perfect, but try to add some west weapons to the terrorists side. M16A1 is very common in palestinian hands. The last... SM_Azazel, try not to make such pictures like killing protesters... it's not so good.
