Major Gripe 0 Posted February 15, 2007 Hey people a question about the SAM systems. Are you going to have some script, that will make the SAM site shot down once the main radar has been destroyed? I mean that in real life you only need to launch a HARM missile against the radar station, NOT to deal with every launcher individually. UNN and RockofSL have a system in development which replicates the behaviour and limitations of AA missiles, launchers and the various radar. One would hope that in the spirit of co-operation whch this community is occasionally known for, the Lobo team will be allowed to implement this into their addons? Ase290406 0 Posted February 16, 2007 I would hope so. Although if this means months more of delays, I'll be ready to settle on a "general" system rather than one imitating exactly every radar system. This can be added in patches, updates and so on.

So yeah, if you take out the main radar, then the whole system shuts down and the remaining missiles are not fired. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Ase290406 0 Posted February 18, 2007 That's great. Thanks for the reply. It amazes me every time how OFP/ArmA does things, that required whole simulator games in the past. Anyway for people like me who can't run ArmA, it's great to have people working for OFP still. Keep up the good work!

R0adki11 3949 Posted February 20, 2007 nice looking units i like the quad bikes
miles teg 1 Posted February 22, 2007 What's funny is that some people hate the quad bikes. Oh well. We just use them because in real life, quad bikes are used by various Special Operations units within the IDF. They are good vehicles for moving around supplies and men on a battlefield where the terrain is very rough. In Afghanistan for example they were used successfully during Operation Anaconda by American and Canadian sniper teams. At any rate, in the game, ours are a little bit unstable, but still a ton of fun to ride around. Even better will be our Rakon dirt bikes that our upcoming Jordanian SF units have. Those ride real nice in OFP. Too bad the IDF don't use the Rakon's (which also happens to be amphibious). Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
miles teg 1 Posted May 5, 2007 New Video of our Israeli armored units. Â The Achzarit will be in our later IDF update, however the rest are in our Addon Pack #3 that I"m going to try to release within a week (hopefully tomorrow or the day after if nothing unexpected pops up). Enjoy! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Ase290406 0 Posted May 5, 2007 Nice to see a sign of life. I liked the way you guys imitated the Achzarit door opening. From what I remember it should open a bit slower, and the upper part was still attached to the body from it's sides. However if that will slow down the disembarking troops, than you made the right call. Gameplay is more important. And a question- What is the final color scheme you are implementing? I saw grey-green tanks and desert yellow APC's in the clip's opening scene. You're not making a different color for different vehicles right?

You're not making a different color for different vehicles right? I'm not sure if it will be possible to slow the rear door animation or not. We are trying to figure out if there is a way to put in the cpp.config some type of script where it only opens when troops disembark and then closes when the APC starts moving. For now it just opens and closes using the action menu. The biggest problem now with the Achzarit is that it shakes around alot due to some problem with the model that we're trying to figure out. Other then that, its working well and kicking ass in game. Some people may not think that a little MG on an APC does much in OFP, but it actually really cleans up enemy infantry rapidly. It takes alot of RPG hits before the crew bails out or before it explodes so its fairly well armored overall (similar to Puma's armor rating). As for the color schemes, for the Zeldas and Pumas we still need to make the more common IDF olive green color. However for the Merkava Mk4's we already have both olive green and tan color schemes. We've had looooong debates over the colors as we keep hearing conflicting information about paint colors and we see conflicting pictures of paint schemes on real life IDF vehicles. From what we understand the units of the Northern Command tend to have the typical IDF olive green paint schemes, while those in the Southern Command either have the same paint scheme but usually heavily caked in dust, or actually have a tan paint scheme as we've seen clearly on some close up shots of IDF Merkava Mk3 tanks. So unless we get a definitive answer on what the official paint schemes are from a reputable source, we're going to have a mixture of paint schemes on some of our vehicles. Ase290406 0 Posted May 5, 2007 Miles if you can just paint the regular Zelda apc with M2, so that it will be usable in Lebanon. Even brown will do. Edit: Forgot to say- Great work, keep it up! Edit 2:That thing you mentioned about the door opening when troops disembarking, it's just like in SLX mod. You tried contacting the author - Solus about it? Major Gripe 0 Posted May 7, 2007 We are trying to figure out if there is a way to put in the cpp.config some type of script where it only opens when troops disembark and then closes when the APC starts moving. I think the Warrior from PUKF had a system like this with a debus option in the action menu where the loaded troops would exit and take up a wedge formation on each side of the vehicle. Might be worth speaking to them or I may have just made that all up, memory like a sieve atm!
miles teg 1 Posted May 7, 2007 update....small delay in release of addon pack#3...we're adding the Achzarit APC which was scheduled to be released in a later IDF update...but since its finished we'll be releasing it. I just need to update some missions to use it and then Addon Pack #3 will be released very very very soon. But I warn you...the pack will be quite large. panzergrenadier3 39 Posted May 7, 2007 Cool! Big sounds great. Many stuff to use.
Ase290406 0 Posted May 7, 2007 Great news about the Achzarit. I guess it's worth the wait.
miles teg 1 Posted May 9, 2007 Addon pack #3 almost done... I'm in finals week right not at my university so writing papers is getting in the way of finishing the missions....aaaaarg. Â But after Friday I'm a free man for a little while and will for certain get the pack released. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Ase290406 0 Posted May 10, 2007 Miles just a suggestion- If all those missions get too much in the way, make a quick demo mission for Achzarit and release the pack. Example- Showing that Achzarit can pass trough an RPG infested area. Anyway about the maps- You'll be releasing updated versions of them as well? I remember there was a bridge bug in Lebanon that I complained about and it was fixed, but the improved version wasn't released. (It was on the OFP.info formus I think)
miles teg 1 Posted May 10, 2007 Ah, good question. Since OFP.info never posted our last update, I will see if Calm Terror will post up the latest Lebanon map so we can get that posted up on ofp.info as well seperate from addon pack #3. But yeah, a few missions that I was going to heavily rework with spawn scripts, or that had a few issues that were difficult to fix, I'm just going to release as is. But I also reworked the original demo missions as well to work with the last version of the Sinai map that is with the lebanon map. I just have to make sure that the important demo missions for stuff like showing how to use the new C130 HALO/static line jump systems are working as well as demos for getting the AI to use the man-carried AT-3. I worked on some of that last night. Just a little bit more to do. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Ase290406 0 Posted May 10, 2007 Great to hear, thanks for the fast reply. Just a final small thing- Can you upload it to OFP-Files as well? I know ofp.info switched their server, but it didn't make any change for me. It's a great site but a speed of 2 b/s..... Anyway thanks for the hard work, looking forward to it. miles teg 1 Posted May 18, 2007 Our friend BeeDee with texture work from KilKill have come through for us with this wonderful Kfir fighter bomber. It still needs some work to sort out some of the .cpp stuff and it still needs cockpit textures. But overall it kicks ass. We may also be using some new textures eventually. Nevertheless this Kfir is WAAAY nicer looking then the crappy one we currently have. Below are a few pics: Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> P.S. Yes I'm being a slacker and still haven't finished up Addon Pack #3... But I have been working steadily on getting the missions ready for release...I'm like that artist that has a hard time knowing when to stop paintng. There is always one more thing to fix it seems....arrrg. I will stop...really. Actually I've just been working like crazy on my thesis this week and have just had a bit of time in the evenings to work on the release...don't worry it will still be extremely soon. panzergrenadier3 39 Posted May 18, 2007 Wow, great looking plane this Kfir. Would be hard to wait for your stuff! But I think waiting is worth it!
