the_shadow 0 Posted April 15, 2004 That's a very nice machine for playing OFP. yeah, it´s brand new, got it yesterday, and it was quite cheap too ;) now, i would like tho know what settings i should use...
PhilippRauch 0 Posted April 15, 2004 first off use the preferences dialog and "detect settings" ... this is what gives me the best results... inside the game i would put the details very high but the viewdistance quite low about 1000-1500 if you like to play with tanks.. or lower if you have infantry only.. it could also be governed by the mission you play if it uses the setviewdistance command... i like to put down the texture resolution inside the advanced tab in the preferences tool.. from 4096 to 1024.. idont think i miss anything.. i also have shadows compleatly disabled... i dont know if the framerate settings do anything... just play around with them during some simple mission... also a good thing is, when you have memory interleave on your machine enabled... it gives me much higher values on the OFP benchmark... (normally your machine should have it already... its quite new and those babies have it all ;) ) otherwise its somewhere in the bios... or use venabler0.
WhoCares 0 Posted April 15, 2004 With 512MB RAM you should stick to Medium with the Terrain Detail setting. I bet your machine can't handle Very High (few machines out there might be able to handle it) and while it might work with Terrain Detail High, it will most likely a) skrew the bridges on many islands, b) give you a terrible (bumpy) off-road experience . m21man 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Go into OFP Preferences, and set Terrain Detail to 512 x 512. You'll see a noticeable performance increase on Tonal.
mr burns 132 Posted April 15, 2004 while it might work with Terrain Detail High, it will most likelya) skrew the bridges on many islands, b) give you a terrible (bumpy) off-road experience . it has some advantages too: a) more room to hide from armor b) light/shadow effects on bumpy hills look awesome c) bumpy off road can be fun if you don´t know this tutorial on how to setup ofp, i suggest you to read it: Link
llauma 0 Posted April 15, 2004 The highest terrain detail looks ugly.. way too bumpy

mrturncoat 0 Posted April 16, 2004 I use these settings for playing OFP. I forgot who originally posted them on this board. What do you think? Quote[/b] ]Flashpoint.cfg:Limit_LOD="0.000005"; Texture_Heap="0"; Textures_Drop_Down="0"; Shadows_LOD="0.000005"; LOD="0.000005"; Quote[/b] ]UserInfo.cfgframeRate=10.000000; visualQuality=0.050000; Resolution is kept at 1024x768 and view distance is 1000. AMD Athlon 2400 (1.9 GHz) 512 RAM Radeon 9500 Pro I usually play with AA at 4 and AF at 8.
Supah 0 Posted April 16, 2004 if you don´t know this tutorial on how to setup ofp, i suggest you to read it:  Link lol from that link: Quote[/b] ]Still having problem? Check The Avon Lady's Operation Flashpoint FAQ or the Developers FAQ page, lastly try contacting Codemaster’s Technical Support. Funny the "If all else fails try codemasters site" part But its true Avon's FAQ is pbb the best ofp troubleshooting resource out there.
4 IN 1 0 Posted April 16, 2004 i wondered what CPU benchmark you guys would have, as my 2500+ get droped from 5000~ to >3000 this really piss me off as i a laggin like hell when there's numbers of AI
Dwarden 1125 Posted April 16, 2004 i suggest 1-2 GB memory because that 512 is too low also normal 9800 pro 256MB or XT outperform that SE (you become GPU limited on that CPU otherwise). if you can't afford that wait till end of month and Radeon X800XT release ...
