Working lighthouse

I've got a working lighthouse but it's not working the way i want so, if anyone improve it i'll give credit in the official release. biggrin_o.gif

Great lighthouse MIG2003. I know that the ECP guys have working lighthouses in the mod as I have this installed. It uses the default lighthouse model from BIS and a scripted spotlight animation set to activate at night.

Taking a look at them may help you with the problem.

Sure, the light could flash more like the streetlamps and the rotation should be slower, to became more realistic. I don't like the way spotlight works, either. By the config i think it is impossible but a script could solve some of the probs. I've done what i could cause i don't understand much of scripting.

Here is a thread on the OFPEC forums about lampost and stuff first it's about runway light's but the rest is all about advanced using of lampost.

I think the lighthouse-scripts included in ECP are really good. The light doesn't move too fast and it looks just great if you drive along the coastline by night, seeing a flashing lighthouse  tounge_o.gif

(and the best thing is ... you don't need a new addon. They just used standart BIS-Addons and scripts)

It might work if i add more lighthouses types in the config, thanks:;): . I've settled this one has a tank to create rotation movement but it wont work if placed in a wrp file, and i want to solve that, i hate bugs.

I haven't seen ECP's one yet, but i think u would find out if is it possible to use more than one beam and not only white.

In r/l lighthouses has own characteristics, and if it would be possible to use more than one beam, u would be able to simulate diferent characterisctic for each lighthouse on map smile_o.gif

Maybe something like BAS blackhawks? They have 2 landing lights?

Afaik the ECP-Lighthouse has also a fog-horn included. Would be great, if you could do something like that, too.

Just tested ECP and lighthouse is just fine, with that fog horn and everything, except what Grizzlie said:real life lighthouses have a beam with mescled colours. I liked ECP lighthouse but i don't really want to depend on that script, so if any scripter builds a new one that makes the same and if possible, with multicoloured beam (white and red)  to add into my pbo, i would credit him in the readme.:).

If anyone comes up with the script i need i'll made a big wonderfull lighthouse from scratch with ladders and rooms...

As far as i know most lighthouses addons r made with somekind of "hardware" like MG, and gunner - best if from civilian side. I am wandering if it is possible to use for instance "camp-fire". Lets imagine static source of light inside rotating box without one wall. Is it possible?

I know there r addons with coloured lights - maybe it would be possible to use something like that? Propably it wouldn't look as sexy as spotlight from class "car", but u could put 2 or 3 boxes with different angles together and rotate them same time to make individual characteristic, and u can use all basic colours - white, red, green and yellow. And of course u wouldn't need to use any "gunner".

I would really like to see a guard/watchtower with a searching spotlight. Would it be possible to make something like that. Moving spotlights would be awsome  smile_o.gif

thanks for the reply mig, I'll check when I am at home and no longer squandering my boss's time

I know BIS couldn't have anticipated the zillions of addons, but we definitely need some search function in ofp2 (or at least a sort-option according to date, author ...)

Sgt. Stryker and MEDICUS:

A watch tower with searching spot light it is a very good possibility and ECP lighthouse script allows that parcially, just have to move the spot in different ways. As i say, i can make those addons, but without scripting assistance is very hard for me. My major limitation in OFP business are scripting tasks ( i don't understand absolutely nothing about it tounge_o.gif ) So find me someone else to do that script job and i'll release those addons in a week  biggrin_o.gif Meanwhile i'm finnishing Farmland Objects pack (final version) that will be release here next Tuesday:)

Maybe you can make the script i need smile_o.gif I need something that works not only in mission editor but in the Island directly. Must be inserted in my pbo.
