Winters 1 Posted March 27, 2004 Ok, so i am making a new mission and your an A-10 pilot and have your trusty wingman at your side. All goes well in the mission until you have to go to the primary objective which happens to be the airfield north of the Nogova mainland. Once i am near i am calling out targets as usual but i am not able to lock on to any of them. Has anyone ever heard of this before? is this some type of bug with the island or i am i just clueless? thanks
MrZig 0 Posted March 27, 2004 Your not using the LGB version are you?
Winters 1 Posted March 27, 2004 Dude, how many missions have i already released? of course im NOT using an LGB. The lock-on works throughout the entire mission UNTIL you get to that airfield then its gone.
Nathanz 0 Posted March 27, 2004 I have had this problem many times with the east aa (i forgot name) I Cannot lock on to any planes, and sometimes helis... Must be a ofp bug or something ?
Maddmatt 1 Posted March 27, 2004 The vehicles are shown white on the radar when their engine is off, this problem came with one of the 1.9# patches. if you press 2 you can see the targets their, also try clicking the right mouse button on them to "reveal them first. The radar doesn't work properly any more and enemies don't get detected without shooting at you first or you "revealing" them. This is a problem and gets really annoying. Winters 1 Posted March 27, 2004 I am calling out the targets but i cant lock on. I will try to fudge this somewhat to see what happens. Right now, the tanks and planes at the airfield have no fuel and i think they registered on my Radar as white instead of red, even though i did say "2 oclock T-80 200" blah blah blah. It was also suggested to me that i should put a waypoint in front of the vehicles so they move slightly forward as well. BTW: should this get moved to Trouble Shooting? somebloke 0 Posted March 27, 2004 Well if they have no fuel, how are they going to move.
Winters 1 Posted March 27, 2004 Well, obviously i am going to put fuel in them. Sheesh, do you guys think im an editing noob?
Nathanz 0 Posted March 27, 2004 I dont think your a editing nub, you missions are high quality
Winters 1 Posted March 27, 2004 @Somebloke, Why dont you offer some help instead of making stupid comments? If you have nothing to offer go waste someone else's time. You obviously havent got a clue.
somebloke 0 Posted March 27, 2004 Fine, why not use the Knows about command with your wingman when you near the airfield. Stick it in a trigger so when you pass through it your wingman knows where, and who the enemies are. Or maybe if you had a soldier camcreate in the middle of the enemy then camdestroy it would help. Winters 1 Posted March 27, 2004 My wingman doesnt have a problem engaging, my lock on stops working whenever i am engaging targets at the airfield, it works throughout the entire mission and then just stops when we get to the airfield, and yes the tanks at the airfield are manned and not empty ones. Knowsabout and camcreate will not help because we do know that targets are there, my guy will start calling them out over the radio as we approach. The problem is that i am unable to lock onto any of the targets. but thanks for the help anyway. I really think this belongs in troubleshooting as it is obviously not an editing problem on my part. EDIT: ok i figured it out, sorta. any vehicles must have the engine running in order to obtain a lock, even if they have fuel and are just sitting still it wont lock unless the engine is on. Harnu 0 Posted March 28, 2004 Have you tried the auto-target? I think the default is the "tab" key. Mainly used for when you need to target the laser from the LTD when using the A10-LGB. Even since you aren't using the LGB, I think it still works with mavericks, or any vehicle based weapon you can use to lock onto other objects.
Spy17 1 Posted March 28, 2004 If TAB does not work use the mouse to mark the targets manually. That works allways. Same is good to make the gunner in Helis fire at soldiers.
ni-mh 0 Posted May 9, 2004 its really hard though in an aircraft goign at high speeds. most of the time i become a lawn dart . has anyone figured out a convenient way of targeting "white" objects?

Harnu 0 Posted May 9, 2004 Fly straight, hold your left alt button, them move the mouse to lock on, move your mosue back and release the alt button. Lock on without changing trajectory.

hitsqdzulu 0 Posted May 9, 2004 Hi Winter....One other thing you can do is put a way point right ontop of the vehicle and set it to hold and limit speed. This way they will turn active and red when you come into their radar range. Using the hold way point should keep the vehicles from moving to much too. I hope this is usefull. Keep up the great work on your missions
