I already wrote a comment about this in Addons: discussion.  tounge_o.gif

here

Quote[/b] ] noticed the mod team sent a picture of their work to OFP.info... I also noticed that the absolutely mammoth 188 ton behemoth in the background could be nothing other than the panzerkampfwagen maus

Now. As I understand it. Most of these world war II mods are striving for a certain degree of realism. Is this the case with the berlin 1945 mod? If so it's a fairly pretentious endeavor to put a prototype weapon into it. That and the fact that it only moved at 20km an hour.

What's next? The Ratte?

While I would enjoy seeing both addons in ofp. They'd be little more than strange toys to fiddle around with. I couldn't possibly imagine anyone trying to integrate either of these into an accurately modeled campaign for that time period.

Quote[/b] ]

Some amateur historians like to believe that it actually did fight in combat, but chances are it broke down or got stuck in a ditch and was destroyed by the fleeing personnel. Thus ended the brief career of evil of one of the most brutal engines of war ever made.

So as a whole this addon might be neat, but it's totally out of place in a realistic depiction of world war II.  biggrin_o.gif

maus

I always thought both tanks were a perfectly good example of a ridiculous waste of resources, being as that they're so impractical. Still. Interesting to say the least.

we make only vehicles and items used in WW2 ("funnies" packs only to reply at ours fans, like the Me Libelle)

The Wehrmacht have at Kummersdorf 2 Maus (1 without turret) and some hulls then... the MAUS is a really ww2 tank (the Rattle no, i'm sorry)

Nice work ! Glad you did complete the project and I am glad we are recieving it now !

Always the unique addon.I look at it as something you may find after you capture a location. And as a modmaker I know you try to make something that nobody else is.

So I gather the Germans were being ironic when they called this thing the "Maus"?

"What happened to Sgt. Thomlin?"

"He was done in by a Mouse sir...."

what do you think about when you hear the word "mouse" ? a small furry mamamal, right ? not some kind of über-heavy battle tank smile_o.gif

The Maus is really cool. About historical truth, maybe none had a single chance to fight, but Flashpoint is a game. americans and soviets never fought in 1985, and no Guba ever lived...

Fighting in a WW2 mission where a full abteilung of Maus would charge against US or soviet tanks would be ridiculous, making a mission, where you'll have to destroy the beast, steal it or drive it against the allies would be interresting : commando action, Sherman ou T34-85 player platoon hunting the beast during its first and unique combat action (while believing having, before starting the mission, to fight mere german old and childish volksgrenadieren), or even be part of the german crew thrown out to stop an armored assault)...

The beast is huge and unique enough to create fun-palying and intense WW2 missions smile_o.gif

an (para)infitration mission where you have to go to a secret factory in the woods, steal the tank and drive it to your base (and using it to destroy all german tanks).

well it's a great addon with nice tetures and a nice model

but some critism:

why the hell you bound such stupid sounds in?

pls update it...

fix that 128mm and 75mm also the one from the MG u'll find much better sounds in MOH:AA or other WW2 games

and i know, the prototypes had 128mm cannons, but the final version should have 150 mm KwK 44 L/38, please add a version with this cannon (it carried 50 rounds of 150mm then)

While there is some debate ongoing as to if they actually engaged Soviet armor.

It is known that the 2 Maus prototypes

at Kummersdorf were kitted out for combat and put into the line, most sources agree they were abandoned to the enemy after running out of fuel (not an uncommon occurance in the whermacht in '45)

Anyway, the point was well-made earlier in the thread that this is a GAME,

Don't have a use for a Maus? don't D/l it, I for one will add it to the collection smile_o.gif

Thanks At, nice work.

(btw, perhaps a Ratte is too far-fetched, E-100 maybe?) tounge_o.gif

the ratte would be too far off. The Maus is on the edge, but it excisted and therefor is historcly correct. I realy like this addon. It's a very interesting tank and very well done in this addon.
